What are your dislikes about your iMac

I have had my iMac for about 6 months,and generally very happy with it's performance. The one thing that bothers me is the mouse. I just had to replace the mouse with a new one under the Apple Care program. Also the cable is too stiff and is hard to work with.

So, what are your beefs..... minor, or major ?
 
lack of video input but thats all solved due to elgato eye tv :D, other than that none!
 
the mightymouse gives me mighty problems, replaced that

no proper temp/fan monitoring/control in bootcamp/windows

everything else perfect so far :)

mighty mouse scroll ball. that's not really the "iMac" though, so I'm not sure if that counts.
 
Difficulty of changing/upgrading the hard drive.

That's about it - great machines otherwise.
 
I hate that i have to buy extra items for everything... Mini-DVI to DVI , Modem Dongle, Eye tv.... ect... I'd love the mouse if the scroll ball didn't have to be cleaned so often...

Other than that.. I love it!

The big black Apple can distract from the screen. (I moved to an iMac from a cinema display).

The screen is very shiny. (Again, only noticable because I had zero glare from Cinema display.) I had to move desks and place my iMac higher on phone books... (As tilting the screen reflected the ceiling lights.)

My 2 cents... Otherwise, performance etc. is faultless.
 
The Mouse but like another one said that's not really an iMac problem. I have the logitech MX Revolution and that thing is awesome the best mouse I have ever used, and it looks great too. I love the tilt wheel on the thumb it's so great tilt forward (activate spaces) tilt back (activate expose) push in (dashboard) it really works well.
 
I use my iMac for 6 hrs/day during the weekdays and have no problem with the Mighty Mouse.

I would like to see a better cable management behind the iMac. Right now, I have power cord, FireWire 800 and 400 cables, USB cable plug into the iMac. That round hold on the stand doesn't really do a good job.

Bring back the Apple Remote 'holder'.
 
It's a wonderful machine, wouldn't trade it for any other all in one machine or PC tower on the market but:

- The keyboard kinda sucks, and after you put protection on it the suckiness grows exponentially.

- I could use some more ports on the back. Nothing a hub wouldn't handle though.

- GFX cards aren't an issue for me since I am a video/photo guy not a gamer, but it would be nice to upgrade the card in some way, even if it meant paying more for specially made card and having a certified tech do it.

- The thing gets scary HOT, but at least it isn't on my lap.

- No matte option, but I could care less about glossy screens or matte screens, used them both and they are both fine.

- It'd be nice to have desktop class processors/parts again, but the laptop stuff is getting fast enough for most tasks and any heavy lifting I do goes to the MP.

- The thing is TOOO damn sexy and makes me want to buy one every time they get faster or redesigned. :D
 
My feedback was already given in the thread that I've created: "fanboy's review"; so I have practically NOTHING to complain about...perhaps the display brightness, but this is more of a feature than a problem, and easily treated with ScreenShade.

Also, something that is not Apple's fault: Call of Duty 2 is not at all optimized for the NVIDIA 8800, as Aspyr says that it's a "new card" for an "old game"...simply ridiculous, considering that even CoD 1 runs with everything maxed out without similar problems!
 
The sound is the kill-joy for me. The out of the box sound is sub-standard imo, but I'm used to 5.1 from a X-Fi on my PC. Turn up the volume loud enough on my PC, and the fan-noise sounds more like tinitus. I think I will have to invest in a 5.1 S/P-DIF sound system...

I also wish that BD and Apple could agree that trying to protect digital media content is a loosing battle, so that we could have a BD drive in the iMac - but I'm repeating myself already.

I love the keyboard! I cant see what could be wrong with it??? The mighty mouse is a bit of a struggle, but I still love it.

The sleepy wake-up bug is annoying, but I think of it as personality ;)

No USB ports on on the front/side. To plug anything quickly, you have to either grope the computer's back trying to feel the port, install an extension cable, turn the computer around or turn the keyboard upside down.
The older white keyboard had USB ports on the back, which was not perfect, but still easier to access than the current one.
 
Same as some folk here - I can't get inside it too easily. I want to upgrade the HDD but it's going to be a big job. Already got 3 external HDD's!

May be a Mac Pro suits better for you. I have never taken my iMac apart. However, it was very easy on the original iMac G5 models. Now, they changed.

Indeed. I would love to have an iMac that reverted back using desktop class chips and GFX cards. Even if it have to be a bit thicker to allow for cooling and fans.

I love the 24" I have sitting on my fiancee's desk, and it blows through 3D RTS games and the Sims like nothing I have seen come out of the Apple labs, but for me it's the Mac Pro when my G5 finally kicks the bucket. I have a few PCIe cards and 3.5" drives waiting for it too.

I move from iMac G3 -> PowerMac G4/G5 -> iMac (C2D). Sure, I did drop better Radeon cards inside my G4 and G5 afterwards as well as couple extra hard drives, USB cards, etc. On an iMac (especially the current gen.), I'm really appreciate the all-in-one design and there is nothing to mess with internally. You can say it's a limited form factor, but it does have its' own advantage for most people.

The Mighty Mouse is really love it or hate it. For me, I like it.
 
The keyboard did not include the extension cable like the retail model does. :(

I agree with both statements. I love the iMac's form factor, especially in the 24" high end model. There is still a small desire for me to grab one, but with the amount of crap I have lying around that could just fit inside of a Mac Pro, I know I can't.

I seem to be the opposite of most people. I haven't had too much trouble with the Mighty Mouse.... the keyboard on the other hand, isn't built for prolonged typing and heavy use IMHO.

The wireless one is great for cutting (video editing) on the road/in a hotel. But writing a paper.... forgeddaboutit!
 
What I don't like about my iMac?
It doesn't do the dishes, ironing and cleaning.
If it would I would have a perfect reason to leave my wife...

Well I've had two now, first one the scroll wheel clogged up and I never could get the thing working again this was after just a few weeks, but the one I got with my imac has been working good for about a year now, scroll wheel get stuck sometimes but is easily fixed. All said though I think I like the feel of a logitech mouse better.
