Hello, I have a 12.9" iPad PRO 2017 for about 1.5 weeks. Usually I buy tablets with white bezel but this time it is black. The black could be good for video watching but it is kind of ugly to see two different types of black on screen. The white might look better overall. What bezel color do you prefer and why?

I suppose your decision on color is the same whether it is iPad or iPad PRO. If there is a difference, please let us know.

Just what Hal said. I had a white iPad but I have a black one now. Less distracting.

If Apple is going to sell a version of pink bezel (like the Samsung Galaxy Note 1), I would definitely get it. Pink bezel and pink pen please.

Having had both, the white doesn't show the oily fingerprint border and is the only option for the gold case. However, I much prefer the black border for video. Hmmmm.......how about Apple developing a borderless screen??....best of both worlds :)

Had both, don't really have a preference. My current one is white as I bought it to match my old 7+, but I find it no more or less distracting than the black.

Black for me all the way -- on iPhones and iPads. The black border makes colors "pop" when viewing something on the screen and is less distracting when reading or viewing anything. I also think it looks better, more uniform and esthetically pleasing to me when the device is off rather than having a white border and grayish-blackish screen.

Im getting the white 12,9” like my air2 and the phone. for a some reason i dont like black iDevices - they just doesnt look good, maybe because the black thick borders make it looks ”heavy”.

Bezel preference is obviously subjective and personal... and related to how one's eyes perceive and process color.

For me, I've extensively used iPads with white bezels and black. I have concluded that I prefer black.

why?

First, I find that the black allows the colors to "pop" on the screen. White bezels seem to wash out the colors. It doesn't actually do that, but that's how I perceive those colors.

Second, letterboxed and pillarboxed videos look better with black bezels.

Third, with white bezels, there is a fine black border between the bezel and the active portion of the screen. That causes an odd (to me) presentation of images with white background such as word processors and web pages. Given how individuals screens can be "warm" or "cool" in color appearance, white isn't going to always be white as the bezels are, resulting in different whites. (similar to your observation regarding different blacks for letterboxed films).

Because we we use black iPad minis as our audio- visual/ smart home controllers, my personal one is always white. My phone is white too, but that is so I can find it in my purse.

I have had both. First 2 iPads I had black (original air and first gen iPad pro 12.9). I switched it up with white for my current 10.5 iPad pro. I honestly don't think the color makes any difference for usability. I like the white front electronics and since on Android (my preferred phone OS) finding an all white phone i actually want is basically impossible, I wanted one touch screen device in the color I like. Very happy with my choice. Looks very clean IMHO.

Here's a photo of the iPad Pro 10.5 in both bezel colors. You can see that black border between the bezel and active part of the screen that are visible with the white bezel, but not visible with the black.

5 of my 6 iPhones have been white/silver (one black) while my 4th gen iPad was black (which recall had a silver back) and my current Air 2 is white.

I'm torn for my next iPad, keep saying I want black but I really don't like the space gray back color. Looks cheap to me, silver is so much nicer IMO

Yeah, I'm with you on that. If I'm not going to use a case that covers the back, I'll buy a skin to jazz the back up. I NEED to have black bezels. My Lenovo Yoga Book is gold with black bezels. It looks really sharp.
