Mockingjay- 3rd of the Hunger Games trilogy. Recommended, it moved me. However, I can see some people being disappointed with the ending.

Is it better than Catching Fire? I have only read two books of the trilogy. The first book was great but the second one wasn't. How is the third one compared to the other two?

The bad part about Catching Fire was spoiler> them ending up back in the arena.<spoiler This really disappointed me, but I hung in there. The third book launches spoiler> them full bore into the revolution.<spoiler I really liked it, especially the ending, but I understand a number of people did not care for the ending. So it's hard for me to advise you other than recommend, take a chance on it.

Just read the Hunger Games trilogy this week (my misses hates it when I get into a book - become very anti-social :D); quite easy reading but enjoyed them. Worth a read and looking forward to seeing the film now.

I finally finished Isaacson's "Steve Jobs".

Not perfect, like the man, but a worthwhile read. I still feel like it only scratched the surface. I'd love to read more, especially about the early days.

"Between the Hedges"
Reading through this thread again to find some new material
Picked up:
The Book Thief
The Bone Collector
The Stars My Destination
And thinking about the Inkheart Triology

Finished up:
Game of Thrones and really enjoyed it (waiting on the final releases)
Hunger Games, meh
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and surprised how much I really enjoyed it

Started The Stand, and it was one of the rare books I couldn't finish :(

My wife sends books to my Kindle on a regular basis, and every time I turn the thing on it's like Christmas, or having a birthday. Anyway, the latest book I've pulled off the list is Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

My commute to work involves a five hour airplane ride, and I thought this would be an easy way to kill the time. I wasn't wrong, and it ended up being a lot better and well researched than I would have imagined. It won't win any awards, but it was definitely meatier than I figured it'd be.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book
It was far different than I expected

Currently reading Cryptonomicon. It's a good read, but damn is it a long book.

Cryptonomicon is one of my all time favorite books
It has so much of everything I love in it

Prey by Michael Crichton? Fiction based on near future science... :)

Prey was really a good read, as are most of Crichton's books IMO

Finished The Stars, My Destination
It was an interesting read, but I enjoyed Ender's Game much better

Would love some more Sci-Fi recommendations

The next few books in the Ender series are quite good. So is the Ender's Shadow series, which follow Bean's character.

For fiction, I enjoy Vince Flynn. Try 'Term Limits' first.

Ok, sounds like you like filmy fantasy, scifi and action type stuff...

So, here's a few (with a film fantasy / scifi sort of angle) I liked...

I am Legend - Richard Matheson. (Cracking little story - way better than the film).

The Forever War - Joe Haldeman (Fun in a Starship Troopers way)

The Winter King - Bernard Cornwall (Really nice take on the King Arthur legend - first of a trilogy - they should make a film of it. Great fat holiday read.)

Never Let me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro (Haven't seen the film but I thought this book was hugely moving, one of the best I've read.)

The Road - (Again - haven't seen the film, but thought the book was really, really powerful.)

I'm also doing the workbook and video series in a study with some guys at my church. Really good stuff.

I'm still slowly working my way through GoT. I can honestly say that it's one of the best books that I've ever read. Unfortunately, I'm only able to read for pleasure right before I go to sleep, and sometimes I'm too tired or it's too late to read. So, I read a chapter a night, but not every night. I'm about halfway through the book. I'm definitely reading the entire series, even if it takes me five years. :p

I have so many other books lined up to read, but I don't know when I'll ever get to them.
