You might want to take a look at 11/22/63 by King. It involves time travel.

11/22/63 (2011)- This was one of the best time travel stories I have read. I man goes back in time to save President John F Kennedy. I won’t say anything beyond that, except it handles time travel in a reasonable manner including reverberations, and it is interesting to take the trip back including the event the story is centered on. Recommended.

I also discovered there was a mini-series made in 2016. I’ll have to check it out! :)

Nearing the end of a re-read of The Accidental Tourist (1985) by Anne Tyler.

I saw the movie long before reading the book (read first time ~2010 and re-watched movie). I loved the movie, but know that some felt it was overrated and questioned Geena Davis Oscar win (not me - any of those amazing women could have won and I'd support it - 88 was a great year IMO).

This book is a 'comfort read' for me, but is really insightful into who we are as people, together, how we live and build our lives and make decisions and ... well, everything. Amazingly it almost completely holds up in spite of being 40 years old and containing many things that could age it badly. References to home phones have changed in the last dozen years as very few people have a landline but most would get it. Calling the 'time lady' (at the sound of the tone it will be ...) on the other hand...

Stephen King used to be a favorite horror author, until I got tired of his horror story methodology. This is a refreshing read. I really like how he chose to add the unexpected events that he did. And I should add that his Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption are stellar too. :)

I also loved his Mr Mercedes books (and also the brilliant TV series with the (also) brilliant Brendan Gleeson. If you haven't read them I thoroughly recommend.

Reading Live and Let Die by Ian Fleming. It's an old book so I need to be careful, was printed in 1956. An interesting read so far.

If you like Fleming’s writing–and aren’t bothered by his early-to-mid-20th Century-privileged-rich-guy-attitudes™ that go along with it–and want to go beyond the Bond novels, these are two of his non-fiction books I enjoyed:
The Diamond Smugglers (real-life source material for Diamonds Are Forever)
Thrilling Cities (contains experiences that inspired scenes in You Only Live Twice)

And for anybody wanting to dig even deeper, this is an ultra-dishy biography with lots of scandalous details about Fleming and his family:

He also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (which - albeit considerably altered - was made into a movie that we loved as children).

Precisely because we loved the movie so much, my father sourced the book (which is exquisitely illustrated) for us.

If I recall correctly, Fleming wrote CCBB for his son Caspar (who was pretty much otherwise ignored by Ian and ended up having a tragic life).

Currently reading:
- 'Poster Girl' by Veronica Roth ... too early to really know, first book of hers for me since the increasingly disappointing Divergent trilogy
- 'The Kind Worth Killing' by Peter Swanson ... beginning is filled with misogyny and 'men writing women' tropes that were eye-rolling, but it seems to have leveled out and now women have features other than breasts and relative attractiveness.

Happy Hour by Marlowe Granados

AND

The Nineties: A Book by Chuck Klosterman

All of which I'm enjoying so far. :)

OK, so finished Poster Girl (2 stars) and The Kind Worth Killing (3 stars), now reading:

Pride and Premeditation just started this but looks fun as a murder mystery set in the Pride & Prejudice world.

Fourth Wing - halfway done ... yes, loads of hype and while it is good I'm not sure it lives up to the hype.

I'm reading It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. It's not considered one of his finer works, but is hauntingly prescient given some of the similar events he imagined happening right now.
