Google applications that make up the backbone of Android, regardless of OS version, are updated constantly. Changes like this take iOS a year or longer to implement, because it requires a complete OS update.
In the last month, I have seen over 15 updates to key Google Apps get updated. I have seen one iOS app get updated in that time. This is what I was referring to.

Ok I get you now. You are right. The core google apps get updated so much I can't keep up.

I have the iPhone 5s. After switching between iOS and android for the last two years. Here are my compromises:

- screen size. If the iPhone was just a but wider that would be great, but I can use the iPhone just fine as is.

- customization. Again I can deal with not having it, and really don't miss it as much as I use to.

I think right now iOS just suits be best, but Apple still have a lot of room to grow.

On my GS4, it is size that i have to put up with. I would like it toned down to 4.7 inch. My smartphone is a powerful communication and time management device along with a music player and decent photo capabilities, so i don't need a humongous device. My tablet does all the rest perfectly and i am not as much tied to my digital stuff that i need a tablet 24/7 on me.

I would also like much better camera software on "stock android" and ability to take photos in auto mode and have them come out great like the iPhone. Apart from that i don't have any big complaints about android itself, not yet at least.

Slow updates, even system, are not a problem with all android phones

Nexus, gpe, moto

While androids apps are arguably worse, there are many apps on google play that cannot be replicated on AppStore just due to the nature of ios , like tasker, allcast, airdroid.

You should clarify it is not a problem with some Android phones.

Having to put up with typing on a touch screen keyboard instead of a physical, landscape slider keyboard.

Having to charge my phone multiple times a day or use a car charger because the battery doesn't last the whole day when I drive using Waze for my daily commute in addition to regular usage.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S3.

As a Nexus 5 user, I believe it is all around the best phone on the market right now and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Having said that, I am also extremely picky and sometimes enjoy pointing out the flaws of electronic devices. Here are my biggest gripes about it:

- Battery life
- Camera
- Ergonomic design/feel (especially compared to the Moto X)
- Quality control (major backlight bleeding on my first one and second one)
- System lag (specifically with Chrome and tapping the recents button)
- Preferred the AMOLED screen on Moto X (completely subjective as I see someone wants an IPS panel)
- Screen size, although that sort of goes hand in hand with ergonomic feel
- Bottom bezel is too fat, also related to ergonomics
- Stock camera app
- Speaker sucks
- Play store updates pause games and video on Kit Kat it seems
- Phone feels kind of cheap. I actually preferred the feel of the Nexus 4, especially with the curved glass edges.
- I'd prefer the headphone port to be on the bottom
- Still miss a silent switch on the side of my phone despite not using an iPhone for a year and a half

I really don't understand why you still have a nexus 5 given that huge list of gripes and the fact that you spend an inordinate amount of time on this forum moaning about it.

You must have not read the first paragraph. Or maybe you just don't understand that it is ok for someone to be critical of the devices they own.

I stopped having iPhones after the 4S and since then had the S3, S4 and now Note 3. I must say, for the first time in years, I don't have to compromise in anything. Note 3 is probably the first phone I will finally keep the whole term of my contact, without selling and buying a new phone off contract.
