Let me check, what is in this old dinosaur..

Ahh. Here it is.

AMD Sempron 2800+, 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM
150 GB Internal
600 GB WD External
Windows XP
*Sputter cough cough sputter*

Can you tell that I need an iMac??

Using an '09 i5 iMac and '10 13" MBA atm. Finally ready to jump to the i7 whenever they drop it this year. I've been in a house with no windows for almost a year and loving it.

Justa bit! My blender has more processing power than that!

15" ASUS Lamborghini laptop in yellow (it gets a few raised eyebrows on the train). Specs:

2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo
3GB RAM
160GB Intel SSD (gen2)
Geforce 8600 GTM (512MB)
BluRay drive
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Bought in mid 2007. Still reasonably fast due to CPU and hard drive upgrade, but I desperately need more RAM (3GB is the max), and graphics is really lacking now.

Gaming - Windows 7 PC I built with i7-965 @ 3.73GHz, 2x GTX 295 video cards (quad-SLI FTW), and 6GB DDR3-1600 6-7-6-18 RAM.

Everything else - '09 i7 27" iMac and '11 2.3GHz i7 15" MBP

I expect that the new i7 iMac will be faster than my PC in everything but graphics performance. I'll wait to upgrade my PC until Sandy Bridge-E is released, but could really be convinced to upgrade my current rig to an i7-990X processor and 3x GTX 580s! :D

I have a homemade Asus P5K-E w/ Q6600 Quad (2.4 oc'd to 3.01) that just died on me on Saturday night (PC ran like a champ for 2.5 yrs but after I powered it off, it just won't post).

Not spending anymore money on 3 yr old components (I'll cannibalize them to the 'bay) and really don't want to deal with a PC anymore - ready to de-clutter the desk and get things quiet (my current case has 5 140mm fans + 1 massive heatsink with fan on the processor running at a horrible din to keep things cool).

Selling stuff to get money for a new pc (mainly old clothes I've shrank out of) and am up to about $830 so far with my tax return due at the end of the month...

Now deciding whether I can convince the wife that 27" iMac can actually be useful...

I am currently trying to sell my iMac.

Can someone tell me if there is a thread to ask for the worth of a used Mac? (I found the mac 2 sell to be inaccurate, also it is mission the i5Quad@2.66Ghz Option)

I think posting "feeler" posts to Marketplace is still permitted provided the subject says "FEELER"

You can also get what the high price might be by visiting the refurb section of Apple's store

I'm using an 8-year-old 20" G4 that still runs well enough for me to wait until the release of Lion and a summer iPod-incentive in the Education Store ...

In fact, I expect to keep the ol' G4 running in another room in the house. Either it will become a garage computer to primarily stream music or it will find a home in the gameroom.

Go take a look at completed eBay auctions.

Having sold my Core i7 27" (late 2009) last week I have temporarily reverted back to my G4 PPC 800MHz 512MB RAM Angle Poise lamp style screen iMac. Needless to say it feels a little slow but knew it was worth hanging onto for circumstances such as these (same was true when I had the builders in last year). Will probably hold onto the end of May when hopefully we'll see the iPod rebate promotion introduced for 2011 before buying the new iMac.

Using a nearly six year old PC with AMD X2 4400+, 3 Gigs of DDR 333, and a Nvidia GT 9600.

Lets just say I cant wait to upgrade.

just spilled my margarita onto the keyboard of my macbook pro last night. I did my best to clean, but sticky keys this morning have me worried. My buddy did a similar thing spilling a beer, and sticky keys led to dead keyboard section, led to dead keyboard, led to dead laptop.

hurry refresh. please

Dell to Mac

I'm poised on the end of the 10 meter board, at the deep end of the Mac pool. The only thing holding me back is the iminent iMac refresh.
(Well that, and maybe my knees are knocking a little.)

I am currently running a Dell XPS 2.40GHz 2 Quad with 3G ram. I have to hand it to Dell, they really DO home on-site repair, at least after you get past the customer service diagnostics in India. Last week I had the same repair man who visited my home a year ago. That time he replaced almost all of the internal elements. This time I got a new motherboard, power supply, video card, memory, heat sink + fan. Basically a new computer. So why, you might ask, am I makeing this move. Well, I'm TIRED of these annual failures. Plus, my extended warranty expires in August. Also, I'm weary of my wife's mantra, "Isn't it time for a Mac?"

If my iMac experience works out well for me, I will probably get out of the pool, climb up on that diving board again, and take the plunge for a Macbook Air as well.

I've been waiting with an HP Pentium 4 3.0Ghz single core desktop from 2005 + a 19" CRT Monitor from 2000. I also have a late 2010 11" macbook air, but this will be a huge upgrade for my desktop machine. I just hope they will offer a cheaper SSD+HDD upgrade or a smaller SSD boot drive. It will be tough to buy a new computer with a hard drive knowing how much faster an SSD can be.

Macbook Pro mid 2009.

Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
Dual Nvidia Graphics
320GB HDD
4GB RAM
Snow Leopard

Still running just fine, pretty up to date software, but since the iPad now covers my mobile needs, I'll switch to this big, beautiful screen, more powerful truck, new processor and Thunderbolt!
Wish they put SSD as default too (at least on the 27" higher spec) but I think I'll keep dreaming on this one...

1st gen iPad 64GB.
I sold my Dell XPS 9100 a few weeks ago anticipating this refresh. The iPad is great for surfing the web n' couch browsing but I'm seriously missing having a desktop right now.

Wow that was a bold move. I'm hoping refresh is tomorrow, but it could still be two or three weeks away.

This. Even the screen. Except 10.6.whatever

Dang .. actually i hate LCD/LED screen. They just not as durable as CRT. Why is that?

I have 2 CRT monitor on my home for about 10 years and they still shine, yes of course there are a lot of CRT failed too, but average lifetime of LCD screen is just pathetic compared to CRT

Not to mention a CRT has true inky black level too, add nice experiment for video viewing, not some shaded grey or backlight bleeding

And it's not extraordinary or expensive for CRT to have unlimited viewing angles :(
