I said I'm open to suggestions, not that I'll jump on the first boat someone pushes my way. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I guess thats true. I didn't think about that. I guess I have more thinking to do. Also, thanks for informing me of forum rules. I know ignorance is no excuse, but I didn't know.

Good, put more thought into because it your money you're dealing with. One other thing to think about. Okay, so you'll ship the iMac to OWC to get the SSD and HDD upgrades. What happens if comes back with a few light scratches on the casing or there's dust under the screen? At that point it will be a PITA dealing with OWC to take care of these problems and although dust under the glass is not major, they may try to argue with you about the scratches. Whatever you do is your decision but it's good that you came here for opinions.

I was going to send it to have the eSATA port put in and a SSD... Not worth it. I was told that OWC doesn't guarantee the upgrades for over 30 days. so if your iMac gets fried 31 days after your upgrades then you are stuck with a basically a gigantic door stopper...

It is very tempting though.

I just wish I could buy a step by step video and do it all myself so I could swap the drive back out to keep my warranty. damn, this HDD is a real bottleneck...

Edit: this is sorta what i was thinking of but with more detail and step by step.

How in the world ANYONE can pay 2K for an iMac boggles my mind. With that kind of money just buy a Mac Pro. A tower sits under your desk somewhere so how can anyone say it takes up space?

Also a Mac Pro will run circles around an iMac i7 & I mean like 2 circles around it.

+ with a Mac Pro you can add esata via a card slot and you can install 4 internal hard drives with ease...... I'm waiting till I get some money to sell my imac so I can purchase a Mac Pro
