i have removed the background so now it´s just black, what would you have done now?

I suggest you give the image back to your friend and tell him to hire someone who knows what they are doing. Seriously, you are putting some people in the precarious positions of embarrassment. Spend more time on tutorials, take some classes, spend time looking at good design. Then, try again in a few years after you gain some experience.
 
IMO start from scratch and use a proper photographer... It's not usable from a web or print POV.
 
It's a good start.
The reason this image is not working is because your foreground character is wearing black shirt and overall tone of his skin/cloth is dark. While the background is also dark.
When foreground and background elements have same color values, our eyes can't figure out what to look at and therefore we are not going to like the image.
The best for you to do right now is to study color theory. Gnomon's color theory DVD training is one of the best options. Just do a google search to find it.
