I use my PC with two 27" monitors. Or the big TV. Or to read a book, the Kindle, that's a lot more confortable than anything else. When I'm outside, the Macbook.
I can barely understand people who use a tablet outside, let alone at home - unless they have a real reason, they always sound like they WANT to use it.

Because we do actually WANT to use it, not just sound like we want to.

I leave the multi-monitor PC setup at work.

When at home, I just find the iPad much more comfy to use lying down in bed or the couch. Using laptops on the sofa always gave me neck pain from having to look down at the display. The iPad is easy to prop on cushions, etc. so it's at eye level. Used in tablet mode, there's also no hinge you'd need to worry about breaking.

The iPad is also far and away much better than a Kindle for reading comics (yes, I do read prose on e-ink: Kindle Paperwhite, Kobo Glo HD and Kobo Libra H2O).

In my case I do not own Kindle so it is kind of either the laptop or the iPad and I prefer the iPad for reading as I can use the pencil to highlight and annotate.

And when it comes to using tablet outside - well the 11 inch iPad is more portable than my 15.6 inch laptop.

That being said I am known to use my laptop in bed as well and to be honest for browsing or chatting I do prefer using laptop in bed.

If I'm texting or on social media, I go for my iPhone. If I'm going to be watching videos or browsing web sites, I'm grabbing my iPad.

I'm primarily using my iPad throughout the day while working from home as I'm usually monitoring my stocks, streaming video and some messaging.

I only use my MBPs when I am editing videos. Otherwise, I have no need for a computer. Well, I backup my devices and store most images and videos.

Here
50% iPad, 30% iPhone, 20% iMac

Starting with the 5.8” iPhone X series, the iPhone is now large enough to browse comfortably on for short car rides (1 hour or so). I also use my iPhone when I’m in the floor with my rabbit as I may need to be more agile to stop him from chewing in furniture if he gets too adventurous. If I’m sitting down to really read or consume media then I’ll reach for my iPad. The larger screen is more akin to holding the internet as a book in your hands.

  • iPhone: Communication device, browsing and media consumption in awkward or temporary situations and my iPod replacement for music.
  • iPad: Personal computer. Main device for browsing, streaming video, reading books/manga, and drawing.
  • Mac: “Home base” for file and media management. Occasional browsing and work.

Since the work from home, I ended up getting the iPad Pro 11" so its my most used during "work hours" (aside from laptop for when the iPad doesn't cut it). But when I sit on the sofa, I still prefer my mini 4 for the size and weight (but its getting so slow to do anything). Aside from logging into one or two games on my iPhone XR, I don't use it much anymore unless I'm out.

I'm trying out the Magic Keyboard now and I'm using the Pro 11" more (and more as a laptop).

At home I use my 13" MBP if I am on something like a forum and typing replies or doing remote work. Sometimes I use my iPad Pro to do the same. I have satellite internet so if it is raining or cloud cover is heavy I use the iPad Pro as it has cellular. I also have an iPhone 12 Pro max that I read books on and/or listen to music or audiobooks on and just about any other task I need to do. It just depends on what is at hand and what I am doing. All three can be at use - like today with the iPad showing a recipe I was creating, the iPhone playing music and the MPB open to work I was working on remotely. I tend to multitask! :p

Depends what I’m doing. If I’m WFH, I’ll use my desktop and work laptop. Gaming, my desktop. If I’m just watching random **** or surfing the internet, I’ll use the iPad. Got a pro iPad in 2017 and haven’t really needed to upgrade. Will probably use this until it dies.

My magic keyboard has changed everything. I mostly used my iPhone because it’s more convenient. However since i got my magic keyboard I’ve been using my iPad Pro when I’m at home. I even use it at work. I feel sorry for my iPad mini and MacBook Airs. Granted due to the pandemic I’m not travelling anymore so I don’t get much use out of my ipad mini. However even my new MacBook is sitting neglected since I got the magic keyboard for my iPad Pro.

I’m not that impressed by the new 12 pro max but I’m thinking as it’s bigger now I could just upgrade and get rid of my iPad mini as I’m just not using it at all. Admittedly I used to use my iPad mini for colouring with the Apple Pencil but I cant do that even on my iPad pro because I injured my thumb on my dominant hand so haven’t been able to do much colouring. So right now I’m just not seeing a use case for my iPad mini.

The pencil is a good use case. I wouldn't use it - I am terrible at drawing, and I when I read a manual I use the computer and type my notes in some file, for me it's much easier to find what I need later.
The books I read on the Kindle are novels.

Sure, a tablet is easier to carry than a big laptop, but when I commute I usually have to carry my work laptop anyway, and I suffer from motion sickness so doing anything useful is out of the question no matter what device I use. The phone is more than enough for anything I feel like doing.

Because we do actually WANT to use it, not just sound like we want to.

I meant "want" as in "they want to use it even if they know a different device will fit the purpose better".
When home I'm either standing doing things, and I play something on the TV or the PC so I can see it across the room - a tablet would be too small. Or I'm sitting at my desk doing hobby or computery stuff.
I rarely stay in bed or on the sofa, and when I do I have a TV in front of each or I prefer the laptop anyway, it stays upright by itself...

I am not a big comics reader, and the few I have are 3D printed.

I’m retired now so keep that in mind. I use my 12 Pro iPhone during the day mostly. I use it for messaging, reading books, emails, social media, banking, etc. I also use it for listening to podcasts. You notice that I didn’t mention phone calls. Interestingly, we as a family mostly text back and forth and do it a lot.

I mainly use the iPad for watching movies or Netflix, etc. I also use it for Excel, Notability and any apps that I need a pencil for.

I really like both devices and use them a lot. My husband bought me a new laptop earlier this year and I rarely use it. Maybe once a week if that and only if working on a bigger Excel or PowerPoint project.

Makes sense. I am the one to never read novels. The books I read are mostly for self development or career related (technical literature about Software Development) or related to other interests like medicine, neuroscience or bioinformatics. I do type my notes but I prefer to first read the book with the pencil, annotate it and then to type in also my notes.

I am the same. This is why when I travel I listen to music. I cannot read or write or type when I travel. I would get instantly nausea and headache.

I am the same when it comes to the bed. Laptops are really batter suited for me in bed than tablets. I cannot use tablet in my bed but I am also warned against reading in bed due to myopia and astigmatism issues.

iPad. The screen size just makes it so much more comfortable for most of my uses. I only use the phone to look up things when I'm out and about (less often given the pandemic).

While I upgraded to an iPhone 12 Pro Max just a few weeks ago, I still reach for the iPad Pro 10.5 while at home. Just a better web browsing experience for me.

These days it's mostly the 5K iMac in my study. I use my iPhone SE2 primarily for checking notifications and listening to music and podcasts–kinda like an Apple Pocketwatch, I guess. Anything that requires a lot of reading or writing, or which would otherwise benefit from a larger display, I'll save for the iMac. Rarely do I use my 10.5" iPad Pro or my older MacBook Air. They're great for traveling, but of course there isn't much of that going on these days. I like my books and periodicals on paper, my television on a television, and my games on a PS4 Pro. But for computing, it's starting to feel like anything other than my gorgeous 5K display, a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches, a big Apple trackpad, and my bookshelf speaker system, is an unacceptable compromise.
