I just tried iKlear after reading this thread and must say it does an amazing job!

still looking for a confirmed safe solution for thoroughly cleaning away residue from the aluminum palm rest panel/speaker panel

I use iKlear also. IMO its a must-have accessory for the MBP, as the thing works wonders. I use it once in a while, and normally I just use a lint-free cloth and dab in some luke-warm water.

I see many posts mentioning using lukewarm water. Is there a difference between lukewarm water or just plain cold water? I'm actually afraid that the heat will damage the screen .
Also, is there any difference between just using a microfiber clothe + water and using a professional cleaning solution such as iKlear? Would other cleaning solutions work just as well? I can't get iKlear in stores here, only online. Also, other cleaning solutions seems to be a lot cheaper.

Edit: My other cleaning solution would be Monster Screen Cleaner http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10087730&catid=. Anyone recommend that one? Or am I better off with this clothe http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10084745&catid= and water? Thanks in advance.

I never used iKlear, but went with OmniCleanz (got together with their screensaver cloth thingy) and have been happy. I don't mean to advertize Radtech here, but I've had nothing but good experience with them.

Lukewarm (not hot!) water cannot cause any heat damage unless you have ice cream on it and intend to keep it. It can help solubilize and clean off some random hydrophobic particles that may happen to be left behind from touching the screen.
