I use a desktop for everything.

More efficient to have one area properly designed for comfortable work than trying to make a multitude of different sitting positions/areas somewhat efficient.

My MacPro is the hub of our home. Yes, we all use MacBooks, iPads, iPhones and Apple TVs. But the MacPro is where our libraries are. All of our iDevices sync with the MacPro. All of our Apple TVs pull their photos from this device (We use the flat screen televisions as digital photo frames when the TVs aren't on.).

There are times that I use it when I need multiple monitors. I believe the desktop computer still has its uses. I do admit that weeks sometimes go by with no one touching it.

I just use my old MacBook for my desktop.

I HAD a 2010 white MacBook but since I installed Mavericks, it spent half of it's time freezing up and showing me spinning wheels. It's now a broken heap where I threw it across the room. The rubber bottom broke and the hard drive landed a few feet feet away from it. Good riddance. I had shattered the display a few weeks ago from the last time I threw it across the room. It still worked that time as it still does now. I would just need a new HD cable and it still powers on. It's retired forever though.

I'm now using my 2008 black MacBook as my only computer. Luckily, it can't run Mavericks. Eventually will be getting a Mac Mini.

Any place but here or there....
@JackieInCo That's what's happening with my 2010 iMac and Yosemite (though Mavericks almost bricked it in late 2013). Unfortunately, I cannot throw it across the room and do not have a replacement yet. But I feel for you...

Various things: writing, school, work, video burning and photo edits. Play and a little work is how I describe it.

All of these are still in play, but design might crop up again depending on possible school plans.
