Social media, web browsing, e-mail, banking, check weather by app, Whatsapp, navigation, notes, phone calls, calendar (not in that order).

As a business person my company uses texts most. Our customers text us what they need and we take care of it. It works great. Phone calls as reserved for emergencies. Still do emails but texts are king.

Does your company use the native app or a third party app for messages?

Native app. We send images of their work orders each morning so no driving all the way to the office. It allows us to check on each and even change schedules as required. Phone calls from or to them is rare. I like it because there is a record of everything. Even out customers order work through texting.

Substitute computer. I use this thing way more than any other device For day to day junk.

Music
Navigation
Camera
Web browsing
Personal PDA, Calendar, reminders, timers etc.

Are all your customers on iPhones as well? My younger son (27 yo) is not a big iPhone fan but keeps using them because iMessage works so well. When someone with an Android phone gets into a group it adds a lot of work to keeping comms up.

Some are but many are not. Both customers and employees use both iOS and Android platforms.

Over the years, I've used my iPhone for lots of different things. I got a X a month ago, which is a terrific phone. Oddly enough, I hardly ever use it to make a phone call, having made perhaps 2 or 3 calls on it in that time. I text, take pictures, browse, do email, and lots of other things on it. But, I hardly use my phone as a phone. So, the question is, what do people use their iPhones for MOST?

Mostly social media and web browsing. I dont always use the camera cos i have a dedicated camera setup for that task and whilst i like the iPhones camera as a pro user, its not enough for me to warrant using the camera “the most” but a sexy tool for day time use only.

My 4 most used functions of my iPhone (which make up 90% of it's usage) are:
  1. Texts
  2. Email
  3. Music
  4. Web browsing/services
Of those, music is at the top of the list simply because I stream music from it to my AirPods all through the day at work and at home.

1. Calls
2. Text
3. FaceTime

So yes, some of us still make calls. Occasional web browsing and Maps.

Do people still actually make phone calls
You're kidding right?

I mentioned that I mainly use my phone for phone calls in an earlier post. Others have mentioned that they still make calls because it's the only way to get a hold of some family or friends.

I left Sprint because I could no longer make calls at home, again the primary reason we use our phones.

Below, take a look at the third line. See how many minutes my wife has? Normally she has more talk time but things have been slow with the holidays and all.

So…you must be joking with that comment.

This has been such an interesting experience. Thanks to everyone for participating! I know this is just a very small sample, and most likely doesn't represent the overall set of iPhone owners. But I also think it might not be all that far off, either.

I have to admit, I thought texting might be the winner here, so I was surprised that web browsing came out on top, and by a lot. And I was even more surprised that making actual phone calls was so low. But, given that browsing was the top choice, maybe Apple can pay attention and stop making mobile the default format for websites on IOS. Or, at least offer an option to make desktop the default. I have a 10.5 inch IPP, and even THAT gets mobile as the default format.

Thanks again, folks.
