I use mine, as many as a media centre.

It originally was a 1.5ghz G4 w/AE+BT. Overclocked it to 1.67ghz (makes browsing divx files through FrontRow a bit smoother) and have 4x 500gig WD mybook premiums (daisy chain firewire) for storage. Plugged into my plasma via DVI.

For a remote I'm using an apple remote plus the Manta TR1 receiver from twisted melon. I'm having some problems now with the IR remote, the software is a little buggy for my liking but there's really not many other options availble.

Great little machine though, if it wasnt for the fact that the video card doesnt not support Core Image, I probably would have used it as a replacement for my iBook instead of getting an MBP.

Everything. Media center, server, audio, video, Lightroom/Aperture/Photoshop, Parallels, burning discs, surfing, (formerly) schoolwork, etc. I do have 2GB RAM, it helps.

Obviously the people comparing a Mini (or any real computer) to an iTV don't have an HDTV. The iTV doesn't really do HD.

Media center hooked up to my 42" Sony Wega, mostly. But in a pinch, when my stronger macs are tied up rendering, the mini does video, flash, dreamweaver, photoshop, anything! They are very capable machines in my opinion.

I don't see how the mini is better. Except for the fact that you can surf with it. I have mine hooked to my 50" plasma. Wireless keyboard and mouse, your good to go. Before I got the net back it was just an appletv/dvd player.

how about 5.1 surround sound out? gigabit ethernet? 5.1 surround sound out? onboard DVD player? what about 5.1 SURROUND SOUND OUT? i can't believe they left that off the tv, boggles the mind really.

Mainly for itunes, iphoto, typing papers, iMovie/iDVD, watching/recording tv, and just browsing the web. Mainly media center stuff.
I use it once in a while for some light photoshop

Everything. My mini is my hub. It does my music, movies, games, internet, photoshop, flash bootcamp, and many other things. And all with 512 Mb of RAM. :) My iBook is usually only used at night when I'm in bed, so my mini is my main computer.

I love my Mini... I actually have an original PPC one new unopened in the box as part of my Apple Computer collection!

I always wanted a PPC mini, it was just introduced when i was beginning to seriously consider a Mac as my main computer. Maybe I'll get one one of these days.

MacMini 1.66 w/ 7K100 & 2GB RAM

I use mine for my photography editing in Photoshop CS3, and catalog/managing in Aperture.

Needless to say it's not the best system for my needs, but it served me well for designing my application portfolio for a design University. I'm proud of the little machine. I do everything on it. Ripping/burning (external USB 2.0/FW drive), watch DVDs on my 23" ACD, listen to music.

Hum, what else... oh yeah ! Forgot : I check news for updated iMacs as this will be my next computer (working mule for next year).

See, minis are not just for people discovering macs. I've had macs since 1996.

We mount them behind 42" Samsung LCDs in classrooms in a university. With the Bluetooth they are great. This combo replaces the old failing projectors quite well. And our college's Dean thinks they look cool.;)

Sweet. I wish my old school did that. We were still using overhead projectors 2 years ago. BTW: Roll Tide!:D
