Schoolwork, web browsing, gaming (Clash of Clans mostly), social networking apps, etc. It's kind of that in between device when I want to save my phone's battery and don't need or don't want my MacBook Pro.

Normal iPad stuff (ebooks, movies, music, web browsing, email, etc), as well as a small information display while working. It makes for a smaller view, and is cheap to replace if damaged so I don't mind using it when working.

I have an Ipad mini with retina. In descending order of importance, I use it for the following:

1. Book and document reader.
This was the reason I bought the device. Beforehand I'd print out pdf documents and put them in three ring binders. It was a mess. Now my library slips into a suit jacket pocket and goes with me wherever I go. The mini with its 4:3 aspect ratio is just big enough to read pdfs and other documents that don't resize well for a smaller screen.

2. GPS
I have a very bad sense of direction, and use this daily. Yes, a phone can do this too, but the larger screen of a tablet offers a more useful map.

3. Note taking / reference
A laptop with it's keyboard is better for note taking, but the tablet is useful in casual situations where I don't have the laptop or a desk to put it on. I use simple note, so can look up notes by keyword when I need to as well.

4. Web browsing, movies
Again, the laptop is better for these, but the larger device isn't always convenient.

Me, I'm more like what do you use your iPhone for if you have an iPad? Only time I use my iPhone are for phone calls, music, and when I'm in places where it's awkward to take out the iPad. When I'm home, in the office, seated on bus or train, waiting for an appointment in a doctor's office, it's the iPad.

I'd another situation when I use my iPhone: when my iPad is charging! :)

To me it boils down to, why use a small screen when you can use a big screen? I use the iPad for everything. Reading ebooks, browsing the web, listening to podcasts, watching movies, working on documents, FaceTime, etc. In fact, I try to minimize my laptop time by using my iPad.

I've set up dropbox on my rmini. It makes it easier to transfer files. I have iAnnotate but there are plenty of other good pdf readers as well. One of my big uses for the ipad is to read such documents. I also have the kindle app. I have simplenote, which makes it easy to create notes and search them for keywords, and to share them with notational velocity on my mac. I have google maps; I prefer that to the Apple mapping programming. I use that for navigation often. And I downloaded Amazon Instant Video for when watching videos on a laptop is a bit too cumbersome.

I use my rMini whenever I can to replace the iPhone that is always with me. I reply to texts that I receive, I spend a lot of time in this forum, I clear my emails, I use it every day as a navigational tool checking traffic on my 94 mile round-trip to work and check the weather radar screen because I working enough to sit has no windows to the outside world I keep up with the weather that way.
I also shop for clothing and hang out in eBay and Amazon to buy piddely electronics.
What a great question. Really had me thinking about what I do with this thing.
So I guess my answer should be everything that I use an iPhone for - except make phone calls.

Whether at home or traveling, I use it at least an hour or two each day. Love the 14 to 15 hour battery life.

Mostly taking notes and playing games during lectures if I'm honest. I also use it for browsing and music if I'm chillin' in bed because it's way more convenient to use while laying down than a laptop.

Any other time I just use my laptop tbh.
