hey, what do you can to be included in 10.3??

any Idea if the release date of the new version of appleworks 7? I would like that apple also releases some "iOffice" frameworks and that the iOffice can be scriptable...

Here's a quickie: When I'm viewing a window in List view, I'd like to be able to click-drag/highlight a folder or file's text and have the damn text remain highlighted for more than .6 milliseconds...

...but that's me.

NTFS 5 (win2k/xp) read write capability.

i know it seems wired but i have buddies who have moved to win2k/xp from 98. in the move i copied their files to DVDs and then they loaded them back later. 98 is FAT32. i want to be able to help. one wants a mac for his next computer.

Please o Please fix the permissions corruption problem.

Give the music folder the ability to organize by artist, album, song, etc..

When you click on a file if you click on the name it goes directly to rename without giving you a chance to drag and move it if you wish.

the big request i would have (list in the list fredakbar linked) are to fix the ftp in finder problem and get springloaded folders working in the dock.

it should also be reiterated that the BeOS guy has been said to be working on a new file system for 10.3

Right along with the spring loaded folders in the dock is the ability for 1 and a half clicks to dive through folders as if you are dragging a file and using spring loaded folders.

Coherent, universal (from wherever application you are), unstealable and fast FULL keyboard access and shortcuts. That includes OS shortcuts. In other words, a Windows rip off.

The arrows underneath open apps in the dock to be alittle more descriptive. Like, grey for hidden apps and maybe red for apps currently in use.

It would also be handy to hide apps from the dock - even if they're in the background.

Allow me to pull the trash out of the Dock and put it on the Desktop. In addition, speed up the OS so I don't see that spinning ball ...

That's all I want.

I don't see why Trash on the Desktop is preferrable. In OS9 the trash can could be covered up. I ended up using Command=Del to delete most items but hey what the hell choice is always good.

I'd like to see.

1. Much better finder.

2. Expansion of the DB concept like Addressbook. Future iApps could employ this DB for certain files.

3 Dolby Digital/DTS support(Hey it's convergence!)

4. Quartz Extreme Extreme- More Accelerated items.

5. A Gaming API

I'd like to see that rumor about SUCP being opened up to third party developers in 10.3. That would be sweet. :D

I'd like my printer to work on 'fast or Best' Currently it only prints in normal which is slow and not good quality.

Epson Stylus C42UX. There are no drivers I can find!

Windows/Graphics

Resizing windows still has a very long way to go before it is up to par. I hope that they figure out how to get is accellerated.

The other is that the magnification of the Dock items still uses up almost all of the CPU processing power and brings everything to a crawl. Especially when your looking for one program among 100 or so by scanning all of the magnified icons as you find the one you are looking for.

what i want

My Biggest wish.... for all my devices to work fine... 10.2.3 and 10.2.2 my devices stopped or finally worked...

I would like the instant rename for the folders like in OS 9.

Multiple User Panel Accounts like in OS 9... i know a lot of schools are waiting for that or FoolProof to come out with better security from students.

Would also like my servers to mount on startup just like in OS 9... Kind of tired of going up to connect to server all the time...

Would like to go back to old way of creating folder --> Apple N not Apple Shift N... same thing for making an alias --> Apple M not Apple L

New version of iChat would be nice...

Oh yeah... Bring back the custom Apple Menu... I like the dock but sometimes it is in the way... hiding is nice but would prefer Apple menu items....

How 'bout MORE OPTIONS???

It would be nice to see Apple give users more OPTIONS with OS X's interface.

First off, being able to access dialog box buttons with the keyboard (instead of making users reach for the mouse each time they want to make a selection) would be great.

More simplification of the processor-hogging eye candy would be nifty. The Dock's magnification option is a good beginning… let's see more.

AND A BIGGIE (though most superficial): Apple-approved THEME changing would be ultra-spiffy, too. Less Aqua-hacking and GUI-wrecking incompatibilities would open up OS X to greater personalization. Aqua is great, but who wouldn't want more variety (as an option?) The decision to continue keeping such a tight lid on Aqua, the absent analog audio in port on many models, the damn one-button mice, etc. make me wonder if Apple really wants creative people using their machines.

Of course, OS X has come a long way since it's inception. Apple's engineers have done a good job so far. Let's keep our fingers crossed they continue to adapt to to the wishes and needs of their users… which means more happiness for us… and more sales for them.

:)

I have the same one. It is pretty slow. :(

Did you get yours free? I got mine free after rebates from ClubMac.

I want:

?More drivers for PC hardware and older Mac hardware that there are no X drivers for. My Belkin VideoBus 2 is an example.

?Support or multi-channel sound and sound cards. Multi-channel sound has been on the PC for at least 6 years, whats taking Apple so long?

?Good support for gaming devices like joypads extra. They are meant to have this in 10.2.3, but I have not tried it yet, so I don't know how good it is.

?More customization of OS would also be good.

All of these would be good, but I think multi-channel support would be worth the upgrade price alone.

I want it to turn my iBook into a 12" Power Book :D .

But seriously, I would like it to fix an issue with iChat where it ignores the proxy settings in Network Preferences.

Try the Gimp Print drivers. I had the same problem with my Epson 740 and the Gimp drivers have all the options that appear when I use the printer with my PC. You can get Gimp Print from Apples Mac OS X downloads section, in the Unix/Opensource category.

Damn straight. I ended up putting an alias to my applications folder in the dock, so I wouldn't drag down the system, but the menu with the contents takes so damn long to show up I quit using it. I wanted to turn off magnification on the dock, but it would be hard as hell to see what icons are which.

All you guys wanting multi-channel sound... Mac OS X already has that built in, we just dont have the hardware for it. There are some new cards coming out for 7.1 (PCI Cards) that have beta drivers for Mac. Also USB 5.1 devices are out.

Everyone complaining about speed... I have no idea what you guys are running. Sure, OS X can get slow on my Beige G3 500mhz, but no where near unusable!

Gaming API? Try OpenGL!! Apple updates it before alot of the other companies even hear of it. OpenGL is the Macs only future, why do you think it was so easy to port every single game made off of the Q3a engine? DirectX (M$) is what really screwed us over, do you want Apple to further limit the games we get by taking us away from the only cross-platform standard???
