That has nothing to do with Apple Music, or am I missing something?
Anyway, I hope they either improve or just get rid of the Connect feature, it was lame when it was ping, and if anything Connect is even worse. And who designed those cheap icons in the radio tab? it looks rubbish, cringeworthy.

Nah you're right, that's all icloud photo library/google photos based.

Agree about Connect. It sucks. Not sure people actually want/use that. The users spoke when Ping was introduced.

1.) Add simple "Go to Artist" and "Go to Album" shortcuts.

2.) Clean up the bugs

It's really not in bad shape at the moment, but some tweaks could make it stellar.

I tested Apple Music for Android today for a piece I wrote for my new blog (in Polish) and couldn't believe how bad it is. Songs start halfway through, stop playing after a few seconds, take up to 10 seconds to begin playing, get randomly replaced by other versions, get new random artwork on the mobile device, duplicate themselves.

Just one example.

2016-01-21 13.44.45.png

1. The first track shouldn't be there at all.
2. The second track should be there and replace the first track, which is incorrect on all streaming services (single edit of 3:55 rather than album mix of 8:07.)
3. Nevermind though because both first and second track play the single edit anyway...
4. ...but the second track stops playing after about fifteen seconds. The little bars next to the title keep on moving, but there is no sound.
5. Not to mention it still didn't grasp the idea of continuous albums so there are breaks between tracks.

So thanks but no thanks. If you think this is "not in bad shape", you'll be amazed by Spotify or Google Play Music (which have their own errors but not half as many as AM).

I think the main attraction to Apple Music on Android is the family plan and someone with an iOS device is paying the bill. The main issue is that you don't have the best feature, which is Siri on iOS. Personally, I love Apple Music on iOS, but I would go with YouTube Red if I was using Android. I think Apple Music is still beta on Android and last time I checked, there wasn't even an Android tablet app.

I pulled up that album on Apple Music (iOS) and it only has one version of Sentinel (3:55), so that is an Android issue or maybe something related to your country.

Yup, the problem is that this version of "Sentinel" is the single edit, i.e. incorrect, and the double 8:07 happens after I upload my local file.
I will refer you to my earlier post on this issue:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...apple-music-do-in-2016.1947692/#post-22463524

However, to summarize it, if you are anal and can't live with anything being matched incorrectly, use something like Plex for your local files. Spotify doesn't even match your files, so it isn't like they are even in the game with that issue. However, I agree that Apple needs to work on the issue.

Yes, unfortunately it looks like there is no service that fully correctly integrates my local library with the streaming library. Spotify actually do matching as I found in my testing, which is irritating because I didn't want them to match one file but there's no way (that I found) to force that not to happen. So – yes I am rather anal about music – the solution I will most probably use will be Spotify + Poweramp (on Android). And still hoping Apple will get their act together... although judging by the "progress" so far they aren't at all interested in doing so.

They have had iTunes Match for years, so if they haven't figured it out yet, I am not expecting it to happen anytime soon.

I am not aware that Spotify offers cloud storage/matching like Apple and Google. That is news to me.

As I mentioned, Plex or some other program that gives you direct access to your home files is what you are looking for (be aware that Plex could put an incorrect cover on a file, but it is playing the actual file on your computer or server). I have a Synology NAS, so I use DS Audio, but to be honest, I am not that anal about how they match the file since it has no bearing on my main files at home. If they messed those up, it would be a bigger deal for me. When I am out of the house, most of the music listening I do is in the background.

To me as well. An album version of a Janet Jackson track, which I re-edited myself, was replaced by single version – the only difference being fade-in in the single version. Tracks from Mike Oldfield's Islands (which weirdly is not actually ON Spotify) were replaced by 2000 remastered versions (which I do not own). But unlike AM Spotify does not touch my local files.

What I am looking for is a streaming service that allows me, say, to download half of Bowie's discography on a whim without paying $100 or so, create playlists alternating music I own with music of the streaming service, listen to segued (gapless) albums. I want to own and rent at the same time. Spotify comes closest to the ideal but still isn't 100% there. Apple Music is the worst. Deezer only recognises MP3 and almost all of my local library is M4A. Didn't try TIDAL yet but apparently they haven't worked out gapless playing yet either.

My gut feeling is that Apple Music has the biggest potential of all those services – reading Spotify forums made me realise they had all the features I wanted then re-wrote the code breaking most of them – but you're right, if they didn't get Match right, chances of them getting AM right are very slim. Perhaps in 10 years or so.

Actually I'd like to see Continuity feature on Apple Music.

Yes, this. I want it to know where I left off on a playlist on my iPhone and pick it up seamlessly on my Mac. Same for radio stations - if I pause a station on my phone, I want to be able to go to any other device and pick up right in the song that I paused on the original device.

I want a switch in settings so if I ask Siri to play something it is only what is in my library, and not some random song from Apple Music, i.e.
Me: 'Play Kasabian'
Siri: 'Playing Sound Effects Volume 2'

I also what the 'For You' section to be music I would actually listen to based on the 3300 songs I have in my library, not Taylor Swifts latest self-indulgent whiny crap.

My list for 2018 hasn't changed much from my prior list. It does appear that we will eventually get multiroom Airplay from iOS when Airplay 2 is released, but I wonder how many of my current Airplay devices will get an update for it?
