GarageBand - Many podcasters already use GarageBand for setting up their podcasts but then need to resort to FTP clients and RSS/XML generators to finish the job.
.Mac could get a huge boast and justify it's very existence by having GarageBand upload podcasts entirely created within the application (using your existing iTunes library as well as purchasing music for broadcasting with extended rebroadcasting rights at a higher fee) and then have .Mac generate the XML and assign it to the iTunes Music Store's podcasting section.

FrontRow - Of course it's going to happen. Everybody knows iLife '06 will include FrontRow. It was made to work with all the iLife apps. Bundling a Bluetooth remote with iLife '06 would be the way to go and would, as suggested above, justify a higher $99 pricepoint.
If FrontRow is released like this, for use on all Macs, I will buy a Mac Mini exclusively for this reason.
Using a MacMini connected via S-Video to my TV is a dream come true in a seemless and complete availability of all my media. I would use the MacMini (connected to a 250GB LaCie drive) as a hub where all my iLife content (music, videos, photos) would be available to use via my PowerBook and viewable with a remote on my TV when I'm simply relaxing and not expecting/wanting to use a computer.

iTunes7 - Gapless playback in both iTunes and the iPod (why can't they release this already?? How big of a challenge is it really?).
Another big wish I've had for iTunes since its inception was the ability to add "Collaborative Artists". I want to be able to have a Bryan Adams song credited under Bryan Adams and then add a collaborative artist as Mel C. Both artists would be searcheable for this song without creating a seperate new artist named "Bryan Adams feat. Mel C".
The same goes for Genres. Multiple Genres is a must as some songs fall under many genre categories. A "Rock" song can also be a "Soundtrack" or a "Pop" song can also be "Italian".
If you want to get into more "I wish it were true, but probably won't happen" territory, iTunes could expand to become a Karaoke jukebox. (imagine how popular an iMac or mac Mini would become in Asia!). Lyrics already have a place in iTunes metadata, and the newer iPods already display this information, it would be simple to add a Visualizer with the lyrics. Adding a bouncing ball would complete the karaoke experience but for that, content providers would need to add the lyrics themselves, in sync with the music.

iWeb - The best for last! What's missing from the iLife family? An Apple style website and blogging App!
Imagine a simple to use website creator. Other 3rd applications have shown it can be done without all the fluff of Dreamweaver and GoLive!.
Leverage interoperability of iLife apps like iPhoto and iMovie (and the above mentioned Podcast friendly GarageBand) , add blogging functionality and you're giving browser based Blogger.com and other popular blogging websites a big run for their money.
Apple could again take their .Mac power and give it more value through this new and essential application.

And that's my wish list/predictions for iLife '06. Never have I anticipated the arrival of January as much as when I became a Mac user and lover.

-iWork and iLife together
-lyrics and album art searches built into iTunes (now that the iPod can display both lyrics and album art when listening to a song)
-Keynote to iPod export so that you can watch presentations on the new iPods
-QuickTime Pro Serial included

....and an improvement to iDVD:
since iDVD can now create disk images it would be nice for it to allow you to work with projects that are more than 2 hours. I would like to be able to create a disk image of a movie I create in iMovie that is more than 2 hours long. I can then use Toast 7 or Popcorn to compress the movie to fit onto 1 DVD-R. That would be nice.

Great idea! This just made the new video enable iPod that more attractive to me. Being able to carry all your presentations on you iPod and then plug it in to a projector when you arrive at your presentation site is a very good justification to upgrade to the new iPod.
Doesn't Keynote already export Quickime movies? I'm sure you can simply drag those to iTunes and then display them on your iPod/external video. Of course, being able to use your iPod as a remote for your presentations would require that the movie stops after each slide and then proceeds once you press a button.

I want to see front row bundled with a remote!
A Intel ready version
Synths-maybe a simple drum machine or simpilfied EFM and ESE.
Features-Garageband should gain a sub-set of Logic Express or MicroLogic AV features (so it would be comparable ). 64-Bit Pentium D optimisations for the Intel Mac's in Logic and Garageband

Front Row eh?

Never gonna happen. The only people who can use it are those with appropriate video cards, oh, and an IR input - so that's new iMacs only. Apple's not going to put out two versions of the remote.

Front Row will be a feature of new Macs only - and even then it won't be on all new Macs, probably just the iMac and the Mac mini.

As for a bluetooth remote, I don't see it happening either. Apple went with IR not to block out old Macs but because it work without any sort of pairing or set up, it's just like a plain old TV remote, easy to use and with no technological problems. The only way they could get Front Row into all Macs would be to release an IR dongle on a cable....eeewww...

We're just going to have to put up with it.

As for iLife enhancements, I'd like to see iPhoto sped up somehow - that's really the only one I use and the only thing that gets me is how slow it is, version 4 certainly felt quicker but I really like the added functionality of 5.

Oh, and some sort of Apple branded video encoder that will encode DVD's into H.264 .mp4's in close to real time.

I hate to break it to you, but this can't happen thanks to the Digital Milenium Copyright Act or whatever it's called. The only DVDs that would be allowed to do this kind of thing are ones w/ out protection i.e. homemade DVDs. You can thank our brilliant polliticians for that one. Maybe this is ok in some countries, but I doubt that Apple would release something like this just for it's Ukrainian user base.

Yeah, I know. But I can still ask for it can't I?

agree 100% and LOVE that iWeb idea
i can picture the ease that apple would provide in such an app and it truley would connect and accent the influence that iLife has on our lives -> à la apple

front row would be good, and EspeciallY if you could control it via a bluetooth mouse - replacing the remote and making it easy and practical to use...

Front Row, maybe. The remote will be sold seperately.

Why? Why make people buy another remote if they already have an iMac? How many remotes do you include in the family bundle of iLife? Why make somebody buy a remote if they don't want it?

Front row, photo thingy, Delicious Monster, active firewall with reporting & logging (little snitch), isync that takes photos off phones into iPhoto, better HDD cleanup/maintenance software, better multiuser account support for iTunes and iPhoto...

"Photo thingy" - if you mean Photo Booth, maybe, but of course the iSite would be sold seperately.

Delicious Monster - Already exists from a third party. It's not really an iLife type item, so it makes no sense to bundle it with iLife.

As for Little Snitch he Firewall built in to Mac OS X already will do logging but not in the same style. Also, this is not an iLife item either. Maybe bundled with the OS if Apple wants to relase their own.

Also, HDD cleanup/mainetenance is not an iLife function either. Maybe an added application to the base OS release - although it also depends on what you mean by this. A lot of the third party cleanup apps do stuff that isn't necessary just because it is necessary on Windows.

iSync is part of the OS distribution, not iLife, but iPhoto and iSync would both need some changes to support this. So an iPhoto that has the hooks for stupid cell phone pics. And then you just need to run software update to get the updated iSync. This is a possibility.

The better multiuser support for iTunes and iPhoto would be good.

Now for a bit on software developement and release - the more you stuff into a software package, the longer it takes to test the package and release. It also drives the cost up over releasing them seperately.

It also drives them all to be on the same major release schedule. What does Apple do if one of them isn't ready? Don't update it? Or hold back the whole package? More costs involved with this decision either way.

Improved iPhoto speed.
The ability to share libraries across users (I maintain the same 10GB iPhoto library under 2 users...what a waste of HD space).

New iDVD themes.

Gapless playback in iTunes.

A website/blogging app with strong .Mac integration (as iPedro already suggested).

Update the iSight to include IR, then offer 2 versions of iLife '06 - One with an iSight camera (with integrated IR support)/IR remote/Photobooth/Front Row - And another without.

Price the two iLife versions at $99 & $49 perhaps?

Yeah, although I am still waiting for them to update the iSight. I hear PB is 3.5MB and works fine with any Mac once you get a copy. I hoe they just release it as is for free or to .Mac owners or something.

Nah, I disagree. DM is perfect for iLife - iLife is all about the fun things in my life - music, photos, video etc. Books and DVDs clearly fall into that category for me. DM is pretty cool but lack of Australian support has me holding off buying it. I might bite the bullet if they move to the 2.0 version so I can get on ealry and not be faced with an upgrade cost anytime soon.

Just being a dork, but don't you mean Delicious Library, made by Delicious Monster?

Umm will iDVD generate longer output for double layer DVD burners?

Also, what's the point of doing a disk image from iDVD if you're going to compress it more. You really want it compressed from the original so there's less quality loss.
