Other What does Apple have to gain by not disclosing how much Ram and Battery size of newly launched iPhones.

Apple knows the battery life is good so they just give you terms that make them look good even though it’s via a smaller battery and less RAM.

Exactly. What does 4000 MAH mean? So a phone with 4500 MAH lasts longer? For that spec to mean anything you would also have to list a spec about what is the power draw when doing specific tasks. Unfortunately Android phones are marketed with good sounding specs but not enough information to actually be useful. It's marketing I got it so if I can show some number on my product that makes it sounds good I will but Apple just doesn't do that. They give information that's actually useful. 4000 MAH doesn't mean anything that I can relate to in usage but 20 hours of video playback does.
 
They can put in lower mAh battery like they are doing with the 12, and no one will notice. If they are truly into the environment, innovate the battery. They Laugh at Samsung note 7 debacle, but yet to have the courage to put in a 4000mAh into their phones. (Yes the 11 pro came close but not quite)

It means one charge, last one day. If they are into the environment, that helps.

I’m not sure it’s that simple. Many android smartphones have huge batteries but the same battery life compared to equivalent iPhones.

They want consumers to compare actual performance and battery life, not specs.

Battery capacity and RAM aren’t effective to compare to Android smartphones that don’t have the same software optimization.

No thanks I don't want Apple to have courage like Samsung had when they made the Note 7... Please don't do that!

No it doesn't mean that. It's a specific battery size but you can't compare batteries in phones without knowing the current draw. It's like having a gaming laptop vs a ultrabook. The gaming laptop has a far superior (larger) battery than the ultrabook by MAH but doesn't last nearly as long. That's why the spec is useless. Now if they would say the battery size then current draw when doing tasks like watching videos at max brightness then it would mean that you could calculate how long you can do that task... Or they could just say how long you could do that task?
 
Specific to the topic what would the RAM amount mean to the average user who doesn't know anything about RAM or how it's used by the OS? If anything it would mislead consumers to think Android phones with larger amounts of RAM are better. I can see why Apple wouldn't want to do that just as I can see why Android manufactures would want to do that.
 
iOS 14 works great on 6s (what I currently have) and I assume the 7 and 8 which all have 2GBs. iOS is so well designed and optimized that it doesn't require huge amounts of RAM like other devices. Apple did blow it big time with the iPhone 6 and its 1GB of RAM but all devices with 2GB or more have done well for years. I can imagine 4GB and 6GB with the newest chip will mean iOS runs flawlessly with the 12 series of iPhones.


It would be nice to see these tech specs, but for whatever reason, Apple has never disclosed that. My guess is to avoid apples and oranges comparisons with android devices which don't have the optimization as iOS devices.

I bet that's why Apple doesn't allow updates on the iPhone 6 anymore. I couldn't even imaging using a 6S but my brother still uses his iPhone 6 and loves it.
 
It costs them more keystrokes for someone to type how much RAM there is. It will make the website load slower.
more characters each person has to read. More information those people now have to retain.
It is WAY more trouble than it is worth.
Good for them not choosing to openly jot that down. /applause #courage



My concern is why don't we get black cables with the Pro phones ?!!!1
 
Apple only reveals Battery size when it’s a major change like in the iPhone 11 Pro Max (5 additional battery hours) but the truth is it depends how you use your iPhone
This year with 5G rolling out it becomes more complicated. But don’t worry I fix it will rip apart the iPhones and tell us
