Apple only guarantees the chassis and battery are replaced. Everything else can be retained.

Given the logic board and display cost over $200 together, you can bet Apple salvages those components.

Ok, that makes me feel better. I didn't want to buy a refurb and find that many of the battery cycles are gone.

Actually, the 6s still has a quite strong adhesive around the frame so if you accidentally drop it in water it should be fine... Apple refurbs ALWAYS come with the IP certificate, if there are any.

Unlike the iPhone 7, the 6s doesn't have gaskets around the SIM slot, speaker, headphone jack, sleep/wake, or volume buttons. You're really trying your luck if decide to introduce iPhone 6s to water.

Attempted to find a refurbished Apple TV 4K, but none were around.

Ended up getting it through work anyway, but it’s good to know we can search for available refurbished devices ourselves.

I found one yesterday on the US refurbished webpage. I went back there this morning to possibly buy it and it was gone. I snooze.. I lose :(

You probably didn’t miss out on much of a saving anyway. iPhones/iPads + the more expensive devices normally come with discounts that make refurbs worth your while.

True. If I remember correctly, it was a $20.00 savings.
