I try to upgrade when meaningful updates/upgrades or when iOS is no longer supported on the device I upgraded from a 6s to 8 due to features like wireless charging and fast charging and again to the SE 2nd gen which had esim and finally again to the 12 which has 5g can't see myself upgrading again anytime soon

I’m going from an 11 Pro to a 13 Pro Max and my wife is going from an 11 to a 13 Pro. My wife’s going pro since she want’s the telephoto lens. We go hiking quite a bit and go mushroom foraging at the same time the extra length and GPS is super helpful to take pictures and geolocate stashes and catalog it from year to year. The 3x isn’t too much, but it should now outreach my 24-70mm F/4 lens good enough to make it worth it. She also uses the camera as a tool for taking pictures of projects for a blog, so the better camera is great.

I’m going bigger since I want the Promotion and the camera upgrades since I do tend to take quite a pictures and one thing you will never get back is that moment in time. There are also some sweet trade in deals going on that greatly reduce the cost as well, so makes things a bit easier that way.

It’s really simple: The one thing/device I by far use the most in my life will get updated when a better version is avaliable.

In Priority order

1. Camera
2. Battery life
3. This year I really wanted USB-C .... didn't get it
4. other things

120hz screen on the pro, I got a regular iPhone 12 last year since I don’t really care about the camera.

My original SE is painfully slow and some of my apps were updated beyond the phone/OS. I've stayed on an older iOS because they always seem to get to a point where the OS gets too bloated for that model, even though it's supported. And battery life takes a huge hit with each update.

I'm from Atlanta, and when I visit my parents, who live in Lilburn, I sometimes get no cell reception in their house, so I have to go outside in the back yard, where I get one bar. I'm with T-Mobile. Lilburn is pretty densely populated now, so I don't know why it wouldn't have good cell coverage. My parents are elderly and only have a land line, so I don't know what other carriers are like there.

VZ "where it matters most"

Just lower "signal", which means low data. I can, however, make a phone call in a cave . . . .

Strange mix of "tower ownership" is all I can think of . . . I was grasping at the straw of so many thousands of people tapping the cell at one time, but I get similar results when everyone's asleep.

Signal for me in Lilburn is always pretty good.

Co-workers have TMO or ATT, and quite a few times a month our employer will call me (when we're out in the field (literally, out in some field <s>)) and ask me to put one, or the other on the phone ;)

Still, there's no excuse for anyone 'in' a top-10 metro area in the US in 2021 to not have Full Signal; with any carrier; for any reason.

I‘m still using the 6s+. My reasons for updating this year are battery, camera, and 5G. The only thing that makes me hesitant is Face id. I’m going to miss the home button!
same here. 6s plus . Camera and battery . Don't care abut 5g because I don't have 5g contract .
I'm too weary about Face ID. I bought the 11 when it came out and Face ID is one of the reasons I sent it back.

I currently have an 11 pro. I'm afraid the 14 will be port less and I don't want that since I connect the phone so many places and don't want to have to carry adapters with me. I think the world will be wireless in a few years but..So this will give me another couple of years with ports in case the 14 is port less.

Well I am in the iPhone upgrade program. No reason for me not to upgrade.
If I would have bought my phone outright I would have probably waited another year since the upgrade this year wasn’t that big.
With that said I am excited to see how the iPhone ProMotion implementation ends up working out.
