I'm grown up...but you seemed a little bent out of shape when I commented about your want.

/* shrug/
Right to the point... This is NOT a discussion on what is better, or what would make you shudder... It solely was a discussion on what would be LIKED... So as one grown up to another if some one likes vanilla ice cream, don't vent on why chocolate is so much better... Its a personal choice... Any grown up would know that...

I never vented that my choice was better nor did I denigrate yours. That would have being pointless because we all have different wants and it's a personal choice (as you said).

I suggest you go back and reread my post.

I merely said it was improbable that Apple would make a 16:9 iPad and for that, I'm glad.

less bezels with more screen on the smaller model, quicker touch ID and a new colour. Anything else like 3D touch would be nice

I want to see an iOS laptop with a dual hinge in the same form factor as the current 12" MacBook. So you can flip it around and use as a tablet, or use it as a laptop when you want.

I'm not expecting it to happen, but I'd love an iPad mini (with its current form factor), with the capabilities of an iPhone. It would be one less device to carry around.

oh yes! that would be great, but it won't happen for the very reason you mentioned: "one less device"
Apple with the current CEO will not make a decision that would be good for the consumer but not good for their short term sales

This is also (I believe) the reason that the iPad is limited in productivity functions: they want you to buy a mac as well

That would take the phablet to a whole new level...and would probably be a niche product if ever there was one.

It would be funny to see a Mini sized phone being held to the ear and a public annoyance if the owner made use of the speaker (in lieu of holding it up to the ear).

As I said, I'm not expecting it to happen. It's just what I'd like.

No, I wouldn't hold it up to my ear (I hardly ever hold my iPhone up to my ear). I would most often be use such a device with blue tooth head phones. In some cases the speaker phone could be used, which wouldn't be any more a problem than when it's used on an ordinary iPhone.

AirPods easily allow me to do this already. It would be nice to have the option to hold the iPad up to your ear and talk like a phone, but that would be a last resort for me. Hangouts with Google Voice integration (sorry non-Americans) allows me to call and text over Wi-Fi and cellular so I use my iPad as a phone all the time.

I expect we'll see a faster CPU/GPU and more memory. The things I want most in my iPad are all software based.

Better multi-tasking. Easy drag and drop. Make it easier to share files across different apps. Upgrade Pages to include all of the features from Pages '09, especially linked text boxes. Add more drawing tools to Keynote and Pages. Give Keynote a timeline like in GarageBand. Give Keynote the ability to manage layers when editing a slide.

Port iBooks Author to the iPad. Give iBA and Pages a cross reference feature to link figures for images and graphics with their references in the text. Allow for hyperlinks inside of text boxes.

Make it easy to find an app. Add a get info feature for apps including show in App Store.

Improve Siri. Give us the option to add specialized vocabularies such as science, engineering, law and medicine.

One word: AppleScript.

Just off the top of my head.

Or allow Siri to do simple things like skip songs and play/pause music for third party apps. There's no reason why Siri can't do this already. The music controls in Control Center can do this, so Siri should just activate these controls if it has to.

I voted "battery life" as I find battery life on the current 12.9 iPP to be less than I am accustomed to on iPads. But what it really comes down to me is not new hardware features but better exploitation by the software of the features that already exist.

Looking at the charts from the recent financial results, the iPhone displaced the iPod, but then again, it was something new added to it that Apple didn't have at the time, so adding a phone to an iPad, in my opinion, would make me buy a new iPad every 2 years, instead of an iPhone. As it stands now, it's iPhone every 3 years, and iPad every 4-5 years.

Other than an OLED screen which is rumored in 2018, I honestly don't know. I've never been limited by the A9X chip or the 2 gigs of RAM. I feel like the new iPads will be unfortunately disappointing and unchanged, like the iPhone 7.

Removing the bezels on all the ipads. No home button. Virtual home button thru screen. Larger screens in the same physical size across the line. Give the iPad mini a pro version. Or perhaps the bezel-less 9.7" would become the new mini. The bezel-less 10.5" would become the middle size...and a bezel less 12.9" would shrink in physical size as well.

Wireless charging.

Remove the headphone jack to make room for bigger battery or other components.

True tone across the line.

Improved Apple pencil with magnet inside to adhere it to the iPad so less likely to lose it.

Make it faster and give ipads at least 4gigs of ram across the line. More for higher end models.

More color options for ipads perhaps.
You will be pleased in 2018, I think they'll deliver on a lot of these things with the iPad Pro 3.

i would love to see 8gb ram

system wide ICC color calibration ability

better stylus feel (slick glass not good) make the initial actuvation force better, it feels like a leaky pen right now

floating cursor, its hard to get good drawing accuracy without one.

better palm rejection

more battery life. i only got 4-6 hours depending on brightness on my 12.9 before i sold it

included fast charger

its a sweet tablet cant wait to try the ipad pro 2!
[doublepost=1486101175][/doublepost]oh,i wanted to add a "screen" mode. plug into your mac and mirror OSX. that would be sweet. the app astropad does it but its not the best solution. we need hardware screen capture and a faster interface.

I want an A9X/11X powered mini with 4GB RAM and pencil support.
Quad speaker would be nice.
On the large iPad, maybe just more RAM. I feel that we barely scratched the performance of the A9 yet, but RAM will be a limiting factor pretty quickly (bloated apps, lazy developers, etc).

I'm actually pretty happy with my 12.9" Pro. But I certainly wouldn't object to 3D Touch, OLED screen, obviously more powerful even if I don't need it yet, more is always better :D

I wouldn't necessarily complain to smaller bezels, just not too small, need somewhere to hold the bugger. Unless Apple comes up with some astoundingly clever rejection system.

No particularly easy task I think, but I'd quite like it if they could reduce the weight of the 12.9" a little.

Oh and if they could make it read my mind so it knows what I want, then it does my work for me, that would be super :p

Honestly, while there are going to be some small, albeit very good, upgrades available for the ipad pros, I would really like to see more focus and improvement on the software side. It is a little disheartening to see that after almost a year and a half since I bought my 12.9 pro that they have the same crappy interface for selecting split screen apps. I thought for sure that that would have been taken care of. The problem has only gotten worse as more apps support split screen.

I would love to see things like full blown XCode on the ipad (there are ways to make it work) and things like that. There have been some awesome bits of software here and there, but in my eye they are still more glimmers of hope than anything else.

Having said that, I am very satisfied with the 12.9 pro. It does a lot of things really damn well that I prefer doing on it vs my macbook. Hopefully that trend will continue.

That is indeed the paradox of 12.9 iPad Pro ownership for some of us. The more we use it, the more we enjoy it but the more irritation/frustration grow.

I've owned my Pro for about a year and I was greatly disappointed that the release of iOS 10 brought only more emojis. iOS 11 will bring animated emojis so we have THAT to look forward to.
