I haven't been playing many sequential games as of late, as I am pretty busy. I do play Minecraft, Sauerbraten, and some of the Touhou games in my free time though. Haven't played Touhou exremely recently though.
Minecraft can be pretty amazing despite the blocks. We know that voxel games can have a variety of block. shapes. I’ve wished for a long time that Mojang introduced a variety of block shapes, at a minimum 45, 30, and 15 degree angled blocks so there could be ramps.

Yeah, that would be cool! I know it would make building creatively a lot easier too. Although the blocky nature does force you into corners that require creative solutions, which can yield pretty neat results :)

If you are curious about how far voxel based games can go, check out Empyrion Galactic Survival, that includes base and ship building including about 30-40 different shaped blocks.

Waiting for Modern Warfare 2 Remaster to come out for xb1. Was sort of getting into the latest COD game on computer but stopped playing when they removed deathmatch domination. I was really enjoying it.. but I guess the scoring was glitched out so they removed it. If they put it back in I'll play it again, otherwise.. ah no other good modes. Warzone is fun to watch but to many hackers on there for me to play.

Evolution of a Fallout 4 Sole Survivor:

New Survivor by Vault 0719.jpg

New Survivor outside Vault 111 July 2019, searching for her
kid and gonna kick some butt in the Commonwealth.

Experienced Survivor in Nukaworld.jpg

Experienced Survivor in Nuka World, a Raider Haven, April 2020 with trusty companion R4-04
and a reluctant Raider who is having second thoughts about putting her in
charge of the place. He’s in for a surprise.

Bunch of new classic games on GoG - Deus Ex series and Dungeon Siege series - so I grabbed those and also the Thief games (already have on Steam, but DRM-free for $1 each, cool!). Sadly none available on Mac, but looking forward to replaying these!

May 2020
  • Die Young- Escape an island, avoid guys with sickles and Rottweilers. It’s ok.
  • Fallout 4- just about wrapped this playthrough up, 10 months later, cleaned Nuka World of Raiders, building some settlements there.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2- Solo, MP is not enough to hold me.
  • World of Warships- Have a couple of Tier 9 battleships.

CS GO and League of Legends. Cant seem to get over these two games. Moving onto something else feels like a betrayal

Driftmoon - an indie game from 2013 that just got an enhanced edition release, that also added iOS and Android. Fun little adventure-RPG that was ported to Unity and very nicely enhanced to feel great across platforms!

I've really been addicted to Cities Skylines. I've purchased some DLCs for that, and its been a game that sucked me in.

I've been playing with different city designs, as the issue is traffic once I cross into the 20k population threshold. Traffic only gets worse at that point.

I have never gotten too addicted to those games for some reason - but Shamus Young recently did a post & video on his recurring addiction to the game, and it makes me want to dive back in! :). Maybe I will play the iOS ‘Virtual City‘ as a Lite way back to the genre ...

I played the original SimCity back in the day, and it was da bomb. :D I was going to buy the newer versions, but the reviews were bad, and conversely in researching this, Cities Skylines was coming up on my searches.

Its an odd situation, I'm not addicted to the game like I am with Fallout, I absolutely love that game, it provides hours of fun and its enjoyable on a whole different level. The enjoyment from this game is more understated, and yet I find myself playing for hours.

I'm not sure if addicted is the right word, but I've been playing it daily since I got it a week (2 weeks?) ago. I'm at a point where I need to improve my designs and layouts to get over the 40k hump. As I mentioned, around 20k the traffic starts to become a problem and as I closer to 40k, gridlock becomes a major factor for me.

Thinking of picking up Disco Elysium, which recently got a Mac version. I usually play in Boot Camp but I think the 16” MBP should handle it in OS X well enough.

Any opinions or thoughts?

I'm a pretty old man but I really love playing Red Alert: Command and Conquer, Red Alert: Yuri's Revenge, Battle Realm, and (but not always these days) World of Warcraft. Pretty good old games despite the graphics. I still love them.

I haven't completed it but have played a bunch of it on PC and Mac ... first off, it is very much deserving the ‘best of 2019’ opinions many have for it ... and second, I have a 2018 15” MacBook Pro (i7, 32GB RAM) and it plays well on that.

May 2020 update- As you might be able to already tell, based on the dedicated thread, I picked up Fallout 76 with The Wastelanders Update that introduced interactive NPCs (other than just shooting them :), the update is free) and it’s definitely Fallout, a better version than before, but it’s online which maybe good or bad depending on what you prefer. As in comparison to games like Conan Exiles, or ARK:Survival Evloved, there are no Admin privileges or console access on a private server.

West Virginia is a prettier environment as compared to the Commonwealth, it has no F4 settlement building and management, although you can have your own camp to build, but unfortunately you are not always guaranteed a consistent camp site on a public server, which you can get on a private server, if you subscribe for $12 a month.

In the trailer all the shots are isometric and god view. Is the camera locked? I assume there is some ability to zoom in?

There's definitely some pluses and minuses to be sure, but its a fun game. One of my primary complaints is the randomness of perks, you're subject to a random perk card. I wished you could be more forthright in perk selection to customize your character in a way removes the grind
