Making my way slowly through MYST again on an iMac Power PC G4 running OS 9.2 on Panther 10.3.2.

Tried to setup Sheepshaver to run it, but was unable to make it work. Bought the disk on eBay since my original copy is long lost.

Recently replayed this on Steam Deck ... absolutely love this game. It came out when my kids were 3 & 5, so was just starting to play games again -wife got it for Christmas for me.

My Wolfenstein history goes back to the Apple ][+ and Silas Warner's classic 1981 game ... and obviously Wolfenstein 3D which I have played on what feels like every possible platform over the last 30 years!
Beauty of the Venom mod is that it's OS agnostic so you can potently run it on the Stream Deck. I even have it running natively in the M1 MBP with the iowolfsp-1.51d game engine thx to Mac source Ports

Know that feeling, you loan a game, CD or video and they never return. Then again you now know who to trust. Good friend of mine once sent me a CD he borrowed from South Africa, I said to him would have been cheaper to buy a new disk. He said but it wouldn't have been yours, 30 years on :)

So EVO just concluded, and the Street Fighter 6 tournament was incredible. AngryBird took the entire thing, and man he was an amazing player. During Grand Finals his opponent's controller died during Round 2, but AngryBird waited for him to fix it before starting. That's what legends are made of.
Not only that, but HAITAMI was using Modern Controls and managed to make it to top 6, fully legitimizing the control scheme

But that wasn't it. Capcom had two announcements before the Finals. The first...was an unlikely collab

Yes. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles items are coming to SF6, and I cannot stop laughing. (Btw, the person singing is Aleks Le, Luke's voice actor)

But that wasn't it. We got a teaser for DLC Character 2 coming this Autumn: the poison master A.K.I.

DOOM.jpg

Still with Doom 3 as the Dev is continuously updating the the game. Polished to near perfection and if Doom isn't for you the dev brings the same level of dedication to RTCW  Both available on W11, macOS Apple Silicon & Intel 64bit thx to Mac Source Ports game engines.

Doom 3 isn't a continuation of the franchisee, it's very much a stand alone game that retells the original story told in greater detail at a slower pace much like the books of the day. I know is rather repetitious, however if you play Doom 3 with this mod you'll understand exactly why...

I'm currently playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker while I wait for Baldur's Gate 3 to be available on Mac. Kingmaker runs beautifully on my Mac Studio at 4K resolution, and so far I'm enjoying it a lot (it reminds me of BG1 and 2).

God dammit. I reinstalled that dumpster fire Dead by Daylight. I swore I would never play this awful game ever again...that was...until they finally did it:

They did it. They actually did. BHVR actually managed to get the Alien license. Now Friday the 13th is the last impossible license left.

The amount of love put into the DLC is incredible. They did the IP right by making the Xenomorph overpowered as hell. He's fast, can crawl through tunnels, stabs people with his tail, and his Mori is gruesome. Just look at him using his Mori on the Resident Evil cast

God what is this game? The Xenomorph chasing Ash Williams, Leon S Kennedy, Steve Harrington, and Nicolas Cage. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, they added Nicolas Cage. Like, just straight up Nicolas Cage playing himself.

Playing Baldur's Gate 3 (Mac version) and Elden Ring (PC version on Steam via Boosteroid) on my MacBook Pro and am still only half way through Pikimin 4 and Zelda TOTK on my Switch. (Plus a zillion others I haven't finished.) So many awesome games so little time.

I'm really getting back to my PC gamer tendencies lately but on my Mac, and it feels really crazy to be able to do that. Boosteroid works really well for me for newer PC games that I want to play from Steam, and there are more and more titles getting native releases on Mac too. Pair it with my DS5 controller or my Switch Pro controller and it turns my MacBook into a legit gaming machine. I'm doing more computer gaming than I've done in years thanks to broadband internet and Apple Silicon.

I set Elden Ring aside and told myself I’ll try it again later, but when I finished playing one of my games, looking for a new RPG to play, I took a glance, at Elden Ring, and SkyRim Special Edition, a game I played 10 years ago, and… chose SkyRim.

So when Fuser became abandonware last year, the community discovered how easily moddable the game is, and how easy it is to create custom songs. So I did some cooking and put in some music from one of my favorite games Persona 5 (a game all of you should be playing right now and I'm not gonna shut up about it until y'all play that masterpiece already.)

So what I present to you, is quite possibly my best Fuser mix. I combined Foreigner's Urgent with arguably Persona 5's best song The Whims of Fate. The result? Foreigner Acid Jazz that hits haaaaaard. (Warning. Listening to this will cause quite the infectious earworm.)

Quake 2 (2023 remaster)
Been playing Q2 since day one. The remaster just dropped at Quakecon but wasn't aware is a free upgrade
Time for some run & gun madness :) Quake 2 is now the Gold standard for remasters the quality and sheer amount of content is stunning...

The modded Return to Castle Wolfenstein still going at that's a gem. Still the standout of the franchise.
RTCW - Have this one working on the M1 Mac in all it's glory

Wait. Which one is working on your M1? RTCW or Quake 2 Remastered? It’s not clear, because you spent most of your post talking about Quake 2 Remastered (which I hope could be made to run on the M1 Macs, because it runs on DirectX 11)

Has anyone been able to try it out?

RTCW - IORTCW game engine & Venom graphics pack running natively on Apple Silicon (also 64 bit Intel). Quake 2 can do again natively, however OG game with the Yamagi source port and likely the expansions.

There may be ways to run the 2023 remaster of Quake 2 on Apple Silicon (virtualisation), however not natively. Personally I'd opt for the native source port and work with mods to get the desired result.

Ironically had just started a new game of Quake 4 and was discussing with a friend on PM, while also downloading assets for Quake 2 to get up and running on the M1 MBP. Then the remaster dropped  I'll likely comeback to the OG game on the M1, but for now time to Gib an army of Strogg's LOL...

I got a copy of Quake 4 free with a video card one time and ended up LOVING it. I even played the multiplayer a bunch even though I was never much for those twitch shooter type games.

Still a fun game to play through, admittedly I prefer the more single minded approach & cleaner Quake 2. Rather like the Alien franchise the less you know the better :) Doom 3 has by far the edge in longevity as ID were very open to mod's and even open sourced the game engine. Quake 4 was produced by Raven and has remained proprietary and likely always will.

The good is Quake 4 runs flawlessly on modern PC's and available on the usual digital storefronts. Not much in the way of mods which is a shame as Doom 3 has prospered so very with over the years.

At present: Baldur’s Gate 3, Uncharted, and a little No Man’s Sky just to fly around. I may replay The Talos Principle, as its sequel is finally due this year.

Is it wrong that I'm enjoying UT2004, Honkai: Star Rail, and Genshin Impact?

Lately, I've been working on Hi-Fi Rush and Ghostwire: Tokyo on Steam Deck but they're taking some time. My attention span isn't quite as directed as it is diverted now.

Warcraft 3: Reforged
lemon-sky-studios-001.jpg

I played all the original WC games, starting with the first one in the mid-90's, the sequels, but WC3 really got me into the lore.

WC3:RoC and FT was so much fun when they launched, and replay them about every half-decade or so.

I pre-purchased WC3: Reforged, but never played it until somewhat recently. While it isn't native to AS, it runs great on my M1 MM, and with max graphic settings on my M2 Pro MM.

There are occasional glitches where the game crashes, so I try to remember to save often. Not sure if the crashes are due to playing on AS or just issues with the game in general.

Honestly, I don't remember the original WC3 ever crashing on my PPC Macs.

I am having a lot of fun playing, replaying the campaigns. I am going very slow, and trying to discover everything, all the secrets and easter eggs.

Another thing I am trying is winning or playing in strange ways. Hard to explain, but for example, the Orc level that Hellscream is acting reckless and attaching all the human encampments, I decided to try to kill off the Warsong Clan (my friends) just to see what would happen. Much to my surprise, Hellscream and his whole Warsong Clan turned hostile, truly making them my enemy. I didn't know that would even happen. So, I had to fight all the humans and the Warsong Clan.

My favorite "deviation" that I did in the game was the Orc level that you play as the Warsong Clan, and Hellscream ends up getting his butt kicked by Cenarius (who heals crazy fast, one-shots people, and is almost immune to non-chaos damage). Manaroth then convinces Hellscream to drink his blood again to become the "red" orcs, and enabling them to deal Chaos damage to kill Cenarius.

I made it my mission to kill Cenarius without drinking the blood, and it was glorious when I finally did. I later looked it up on YouTube and found out that I wasn't the first person to try and succeed. It appears that most other people did it a similar way, with a bunch of towers (I probably had 200 of them), but I also built a 12 barracks, and after the fight started, just kept making spear throwers, until Cenarius died.

I am currently on the Night Elf Campaign, which is probably my least favorite in the game, but still fun.

Still playing Warcraft III: Reforged, almost done the game, I am currently on the second to last stage of second Scourge Campaign: Legacy of he Damned. This is the one where you play half the stages as Arthas, and other half as Sylvanas after she got her free will back from the Lich King.

I know it is taking a while for me to get through the game since I started replaying it, maybe 5 months ago, but I have a very limited amount of time that I can sit down and play games.

While it isn't native to AS, it runs great on my M1 MM, and with max graphic settings on my M2 Pro MM.

I want to update something I mentioned before about playing WC3:RF on AS Macs. It plays great on my M2 Pro MM, but I mentioned before about crashes, and I think I figured it out.

I got to some stages early on the Sentinels Campaign that would literally crash every 10 seconds. It was very frustrating. I was just going to stop playing, but decided to play around with the graphic settings. I found out that if I turned everything to the max setting, but turn "Particles" setting down one level to "Medium", all the crashes stopped. It looks and plays great now.

See below:
WC3RF Graphic settings for AS Macs.png

Not sure if this would help anyone, but if you are having crashes, give it a try.

Another thing I am trying is winning or playing in strange ways.
One thing that I don't ever remember doing before is using Sylvanas' charm spell to mind control another races' "builders", such as peons or wisps, and construct a whole separate camp of that races' buildings, as well as train units of the other race.

I been almost obsessed with it. It almost seems overpowered.

You can also do the same with procession spell for Banshies, and sooner than with Sylvanas due to it being a level 6 spell for Sylvanas.

I will probably be completed WC3:RF in the next few weeks, maybe play some custom games with the AI for a while, then move on to something else. Probably WoW, I haven't played in a long time.

Conarium
1693678307215.png

Conarium is a chilling Lovecraftian game that follows the gripping story of four scientists and their endeavour to challenge what we normally consider to be the "absolute" limits of nature. Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's novella At the Mountains of Madness, but largely set after an original story.

One of the better Lovecraftian games as long as you like the slow burn approach to storytelling. Have played through Conarium several times over the years and it never fails to entertain or scratch that Lovecraftian itch that many others miss.

Have also played Transient by the same developer, however didnt work for me as a future placed Cyberpunk Lovecraftian stylised game. Observer: System Redux does this so much better, featuring the late Rutger Hauer who similar to Roy Batty in Blade Runner was born for the role

What’s going on in World of Warcraft these days, any new expansions? I’ve sworn off World of tanks, but still active with World of Warships.
