Debating on what size to get. Considering just gong 64GB as I stream mostly.

My last two iPads were 128 and I'm beginning to hit the upper limits of space between the large art/textbooks I keep on there, and the many 2-3gb+ games.

256 is the sweet spot for me - my iPhone X and now XS Max were both 256, so I'm looking forward to more breathing room on the 256 iPad.

128 is the perfect amount and I'm annoyed that apple doesn't offer it but whatever..

64GB will likely be good for me but I just don't want to worry about it. So 256GB it is

Yes, the 1 TB models are ridiculously expensive. But this will be my only computer. My main content consumption as well as creation device. I plan to edit 4K videos & photos on it as well as using it as a digital sketchbook. There is a chance I could go with 512 if it comes with 6GB of ram. But from what I hear only the 1 TB version does.

I am having a harder time deciding between the 11” or the 12.9”.

Went with 256gn; thinking that 64gb would be too little and 512 would be way too much.....1tb was considered due to additional ram in that model but the price quickly brought me back to reality.

Wait, I missed all that, so, the amount of ram in the new iPP’s depends on the size of the SSD? Do both sizes, 12.9 and 11”, use that same formula? What amount of ram do the new iPP’s have? I think the more ram the better.

I’ve got some research to do!

I’m thinking 256. 64 isn’t nearly enough (even with cloud storage) and the price premium for the 512 and 1 TB are just not worth it to me.

Out of interest why do you not consider 64 enough when cloud storage is available?

64gb for me. I still have 14gb available on my Air 2 so should be ample. I don’t see the need to have absolutely everything stored in the device.

I like to have everything local on my device and use cloud services as a backup.

I’m also making my decision based on RAM. If 512 has the 6GB I’m going that direction, if not, seriously considering the 1 GB. I usually upgrade annually, but this may have hit the sweet spot that I’m looking for to use for at least 3 years.

Apple have intentionally removed the tier that most people would have wanted - 128GB.
Cloud is an option but comes at additional cost. Those who already pay for cloud storage may want to consider that to ensure they are not paying twice for storage.

I consider iPad users in four groups

1) casual consumers of media
2) occasional content creators with access to cloud storage
3) heavy content creators looking to replace pc / use iPad as main device
4) creative professionals

1TB is probably best for category 4
512 for category 3

It’s the others that are a grey area. Perhaps category 1/2 would both suffice with 64GB

That’s the thing, cloud is supposed to be part of a workflow , not as a backup. You either embrace it or you dont

I'm in category 1. I use my MB Pro/Desktop for creative pursuits.

I went 256 gigs. (WiFi)

Not that people store full Blu-rays or 4K movies on their iPads. But occasionally I do when I know I want to watch a movie somewhere where there’ll be little or poor WiFi (planes and some hotels).

One 4K movie is 100 gigs? And a Blu-ray is 30-60 gigs if I’m not mistaken.

I selected the 12.9 inch 1TB (Wi-fi & LTE) model. I tend to go through a ton of storage for some unknown reason. I do also have iCloud storage (2TB) but I’m paranoid about losing files. It happened to me once and since then I have become obsessed with storage. My 512GB 10.5 inch iPad Pro has 380ish GB left.

Decided to go with 256 GB, that will be a huge improvement over my current iPad Air 32 GB.
With 256 GB i can sync 1080p movies and tv shows in original quality thru Plex while i am on trips.

I went with 256. Was going to get 64gb but I felt weird spending over 1k on something with only 64gb

I like to have a lot of movies, tv shows, and music downloaded to my iPad when I travel. So 256gb was the way to go.

128gb base model would have been perfect

Agreed for most of the same reasons. 256 was the sweet spot, as my 128 is nearly full. The extra $200 just wasn't worth it to go with 512, for me. I do have iCloud storage as well, so 256 will be plenty. If I'm wrong, well it will most likely take enough time to fill it up until another upgrade. I hope to keep this one for 2 years or more.

My first gen iPad Pro was 128gb and I've only used approximately half of that. I'll have to get a 256gb then.
