Went with 256gn; thinking that 64gb would be too little and 512 would be way too much.....1tb was considered due to additional ram in that model but the price quickly brought me back to reality.
Out of interest why do you not consider 64 enough when cloud storage is available?I’m thinking 256. 64 isn’t nearly enough (even with cloud storage) and the price premium for the 512 and 1 TB are just not worth it to me.

That’s the thing, cloud is supposed to be part of a workflow , not as a backup. You either embrace it or you dontI like to have everything local on my device and use cloud services as a backup.
I’m also making my decision based on RAM. If 512 has the 6GB I’m going that direction, if not, seriously considering the 1 GB. I usually upgrade annually, but this may have hit the sweet spot that I’m looking for to use for at least 3 years.
I'm in category 1. I use my MB Pro/Desktop for creative pursuits.Apple have intentionally removed the tier that most people would have wanted - 128GB.
Cloud is an option but comes at additional cost. Those who already pay for cloud storage may want to consider that to ensure they are not paying twice for storage.
I consider iPad users in four groups
1) casual consumers of media
2) occasional content creators with access to cloud storage
3) heavy content creators looking to replace pc / use iPad as main device
4) creative professionals
1TB is probably best for category 4
512 for category 3
It’s the others that are a grey area. Perhaps category 2/3 would both suffice with 64GB

Agree, but I bet that is the bump the iPP will get next spring.128gb should have been the base storage for these “Pro” models. Classic Apple.
