Me personally as many other people are very disappointed of current Apple products, which probably shows Apple's death. Lion, Mountain Lion, iOS 6, iOS 7, Mac Pro 2013, iMac 2012, MBPr 2012, and Mac Mini 2012. iTunes 11, Lightning connector, and more. I hate all the new design, iMac's feature removal, MBPr's price for nothing, Mac Mini's "inferiorification" and Mac Pro's lack of expandability. All the new software also. I don't know but I see signs of Apple's death. I also think that many other companies forgot what they have to do. Microsoft is failing with Surface, Windows 8 and stuff they uselessly bought for billions like Skype. Google is failing with Android and their stupid Youtube updates.

What happened to Apple?
What happened to all the others companies?

Simple answer: they're catering to some of the market's taste. Not all, but some. And it's really good marketing :p

If "all the other companies are likewise failing", perhaps nothing happened to them. Perhaps it's you that has changed.

I haven't changed, one year ago I didn't know anything about computers. When I look at the iMac G4, I think: They had a lot of success. All G4s are better than G3s, all redesigned Macs after Steve Jobs's death are WORSE than their predecessor.

When will all companies will revert to normal?

Not sure what you mean by 'normal', but technology is constantly on the move, stagnation won't be tolerated by consumers. I've seen many great new things introduced by different companies in the last few years, in fact too many to list here. It's us, the consumers, who ultimately decide the fate of new technology, because we vote with our wallets. Commercially unsuccessful tech, will simply disappear.

If this is not your idea of 'normal', perhaps you are unwilling to embrace new technology, or just maybe, your standards are higher than the average person's. Only you know the answer to those questions.

Of the five companies whose continued existence you are questioning, I believe at least four are not about to disappear anytime soon. Cheers!

I am in past technology. I use DVDs, I use FW, I use Hard Drives. I consider the years from 2010 are too revolutionnary. We passed from floppy disks to separate them into the hard drive and the CD. Then, in the early 201X we passed from hard drive to SSD, we passed from DVD to "Internet Download". That's what I am disappointed about. Instead of having a disc or a flash drive for every program, all programs installers are either compressed into the hard drive or their are hidden somewhere in a server somewhere on this planet. I wish I could go to the store to buy a copy of OS X Mavericks and store in my shelves (or download a pirated version and burn it to a disc) instead of having to download from an app and having it trashed once you install it. I also don't like when computers lose expandability. The Mac Pro (original) offer unlimited expandability like a PC. The new Mac Pro doesn't even let you upgrade anything other than the SSD and the RAM. The MacBook Pro (2nd gen unibody) offer you to upgrade anything, the RAM in first, plus you can upgrade using special tools the HD, the optical drive. The new rMBP have soldered non-upgradable RAM.

I hate all this. Hope this all changes.

I'm sorry but I can't take your post seriously. Look at what you are mentioning:

Lion, Mountain Lion

What exactly is wrong with these? Mountain Lion is incredibly stable, what is the problem with it?

iOS 6, iOS 7

Whats wrong with iOS6? iOS 7 isn't even out yet so you can't comment on that (but even beta 4 is very stable). I'm not sure what the problem here is either...

iMac's feature removal, MBPr's price for nothing

What feature removal for iMac? Also the MBRr's price is due to the screen resolution. High res screens are still very expensive to produce, hence the price difference.

Mac Mini's "inferiorification" and Mac Pro's lack of expandability

What inferiorification? Are you talking about removing an optical drive that most people don't use anymore to make more space for other things? Thats not making it inferior, thats making progress. Apple was also the first to ditch the floppy drive.

As for the Mac Pro, Pixar, Black Magic, and The Foundry all are raving about this machine, that should tell you all you need to know about it right there. Jack Greasley even said its the fastest off the shelf machine they've ever used.

People who are the market for the new Mac Pro don't care about having four drive bays because four drives are not even near enough to hold the amount of data needed for the projects they work on.

Also Apple is one of the most profitable companies, how you interpret that as the "Death of Apple" is beyond me.

Lion, Mountain Lion
They ARE NOT stable, there's ton of bad ratings about Mountain Lion and there's ton of people that prefer Snow Leopard rather than Lion or ML.
iOS 6, iOS 7
iOS 6 is very unstable compared to iOS 5. It miss many features that iOS 5 have. iOS 5 over 4 have setup without iTunes, Multitasking, and more. What iOS 6 have over 5? ... more rounded Settings app and removal of the Youtube app? iOS 7, in some way has new features and a new design, but I don't like everything in the new design.
iMac's feature removal, MBPr's price for nothing
iMac has no optical drive, has no additional slot for hard drive, has no RAM upgrade on 21.5" model, has 5400 RPM hard drive instead of 7200, has no FW port and no Microphone port, and makes the upgradability 50% harder. Yes the MBPr has a good display, but the price is too much. The 13" has no good graphic card, they both have no optical drive, no good battery like the MBA, inferior specs compared to the previous model, no FW and no Ethernet forcing you to buy a Thunderbolt to FW or Ethernet adapter for 30$ each (if not more).
Mac Mini's "inferiorification" and Mac Pro's lack of expandability
Mac mini 2010 has a nice GeForce 320M, replaced with the choice of either an HD3000 or Radeon HD6630M, replaced by HD4000 ONLY. They removed the optical drive not even letting you to order the Mac with a second HD. Mac Pro is not letting you upgrade internally ANYTHING other than the SSD and RAM. No graphic card upgrades. No optical drive, no hard drive bays. Tell me: Why should I pay 3000$+ on an machine that doesn't even have an worthless but useful optical drive?

And how can you tell that you can't upgrade the graphics cards? I don't believe Apple ever mentioned this which means its pure speculation on your part. Also calling the machine worthless shows that you are not the target audience. I do a ton of 3D stuff and the new Mac Pro is amazing. Did you see how fast it painted in Mari? (Unoptimized Mari might I add). Divinci Resolve apparently runs amazing in it according to Black Magic, and Pixar has been using them for months now and is praising them. Hardly useless.

As for optical drives, the people who buy the new Mac Pro most likely won't have anything that fits on a DVD/CD. All high end software comes on downloads or hard drives (like EastWest does). Optical media isn't practical anymore, why waste space on it when you can get a $50 external if you really need that capability?

I think you're confusing the Mac Pro market with people who just like to have a higher end system. A workstation and a high end consumer computer are quite different.

As for you saying Lion and Mountain Lion are unstable I just simply don't agree. We have zero, absolutely zero crash reports on these two systems at work and we have over 1000 Mac users now.

For the Mac mini, its not a machine you buy if you want high customization, its a machine you buy if you want a small desktop Mac. You don't buy it for gaming or lots of high end work.

Lucky you (and your users) I've had more kernel panics in less than a year of ML than I've have BSOD in 20+ years of Windows, together with
- Time Machine having many, correction very many problems, particularly when external drives go to sleep
- Not being able to close down ML without holding power button down when Time Machine starts sulking (cue lots of comments about why would you do that - double yawn)
- ML putting external drives to sleep when apps are still writing to them
- Being able to scroll the page faster than Safari can render it
- ML not being able to start Apples own apps from time to time - e.g. watching the iTunes icon bounce up and down becomes a trifle wearing after 30 minutes

I've got three Macs running ML (Mac Pro, two 15" MBP and 13" MBP) and have exactly 0 kernal panics/crashes since I upgraded.

Wait, I take that back. I've had a couple. And they've all been Adobe Flash related.

My experience doesn't mean it's a stellar OS, and your experience doesn't mean it's a bad OS. Not in the sense that the Original Poster is making it to be.

"ML is incredibly stable" ??? It's the first Mac OS for years (since OS 9 to be precise) that freezes every few days

The price for the MBPr is obviously to high - look at the sales figures

No more OS or apps on DVD, Sticks or else that I can stock in MY home, instead everything from the cloud with Apple telling me, what I may download or not (try to load down Lion nowadays with a Mac not supporting ML )

Yes, but Apple is on the right way ;) - so look at the stock prices falling and falling and falling ....

I was thinking the same thing.

Premade computers are now commodity items. But there's a whole world of custom-made stuff that is still exciting. You can still install all sorts of stuff that you may want or need, and you have more choices now than at any time in the past, especially WRT custom cases.

Macs give you what Apple thinks you should need. But it is far from impossible to buy (and build) what you really want.

What happened to Apple?
What happened to all the others companies?

-What was wrong with Mountain Lion? Nothing big, but I appreciate the update, I cant wait for Mavericks!
-iOS6 was like iOS5, why does this disappoint you?
-iOS7 seemed like the wrong direction for me, its not my style, but the general populous seems to like it, so they must be doing something right with it.
-I am really loving the design of the mac pro, very minimalistic. I just wish I could afford it.
-I dont see a big deal here nor there with the thinner iMac, the 2011 one was never really "in the way." While the design is impressive, I do agree its nothing really practical for a dektop.
-LOVE LOVE LOVE my rMBP, ITS SO THIN AND POWERFUL!!!! I cant believe such a computer exists!
-Mac mini 2012, is the same as the 2011. Nothing revolutionary, but they need to announce internal upgrades. Cant expect old hardware to survive forever.

Lightning cable > 30 pin connector anyday. That **** was annoying.
iTunes 11, meh

But not everything apple announces at events has to be revolutionary, it doesnt have to WOW you, thats not the goal. The goal is to introduce/inform the populous about the changes to their product lines. iTunes 11 has improvements, but you can keep iTunes 10 if you like.

Their company doesnt revolve around you and the designs you like. They strive to be unique, if they go unchallenged, then why change it? To be fair, a lot of people dont use DVD/CD's anymore, and if you do, there are solutions. While I agree the price of the rMBPs are high, the profit margins are no higher than any apple products. Those screens are expensive to produce. Mac mini has been what its always been, why is it suddenly inferior now? And I never looked toward Apple for expand-ability, Ive always just seen them as a great quality company with very great quality products.

You might be a little like me, hating change for the sake of change. While you think they are going in the wrong direction, many others do not. I think the rMBPs are great lines, and I like the iMac and Mac Pro design, its very minimalistic. You may be happier going to a PC with windows 7 and not having to "deal" with all the "bad decisions" Apple is making :]
