OP, are you saying that the Shift key is no longer highlighted when engaged and that the Caps Lock key no longer shows blue to note that it is in use?

Dictating 'full stop' using British English does the punctuation mark.

So, it turns out if one has their Siri language set to any English other than US, the . becomes a period & "full stop" is the order of the day. Changed it back to English (United States) and all is back to normal.
