Okay, here's the plan: List your source song, and then the playlist the Genius put together for you, and then any thoughts you have about the group.

Edit: Please take out the extraneous info from the list. We don't need to know how many times you've played the song. ;)

I have hundreds of Christmas songs, and they're all unchecked right now, but that only affects the shuffle, not the Genius, unfortunately. We should send Apple some feedback to add that as an option.

Pretty clever stuff.

It's sat there and stayed quiet, I don't like all these drop out menus they keep adding.

I think I'll give it a quick twirl just to see what it says though.

That's pretty sick how accurate it is. This is definitely gonna be better than asking people about new music. I've been struggling trying to find new music lately too.

I'm enjoying Genius very much. Here is my playlist based on:

The Reason Why by Rachael Yamagata.

So I'm listening to a song I recorded the other day, and it's suggested

"I'm Gone" - Ben Adams
"Delicious" - Ben Adams

There's a fine line between recommending songs, and just finding someone with the same name as me :p

I'll admit, I don't think I've done a fair test here :p

Awesome

I was sceptical... but by god it's accurate...

I guess with so many iTunes libraries out there it's producing some pretty 'trendy' data almost instantly.

I stuck in a Third Eye Blind track that I hadn't listened to in years and it basically produced the mixtape I listened to on repeat from age 14 to 17... it was uncanny.

Based on Third Eye Blind, it gave me:

Semisonic
Matchbox Twenty
Toad The Wet Sprocket
New Radicals (Who I'd all but forgotten)

and even threw some stuff I like now in, that went REALLY well with the mix:

State Radio for example.

Most impressive. Great feature that I really feel is making music fresh again. Cheers Apple

Creepiest so far?

3s and 7s by Queens of the Stone Age produced a playlist that sounded like a who's-who of the track listing for Rock Band/Guitar Hero.

The first handful tracks were something like:

3s and 7s - Queens of the Stone Age
In Bloom - Nirvana
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Metal - Tenacious D
Little Sister - Queens of the Stone Age
Hysteria - Muse
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden

My friend actually walked in the room and asked 'Is this like your Rock Band playlist?'

I tried it last night.....

I choose one of the most famous songs ever written....Hey Jude, and asked for suggestions...

It came out with "none" :D It failed miserably :p

One thing that made me very upset is that the "suggestions reviews" came up in french when my "chosen" language is english..... I find it extremely disrespectful not to keep language preferences into account once asked for them...

That's the downside of having the service tied to the iTunes Music Store. No Beatles there = no recommendations.

Pretty huge hole, actually.

i was playing with the genius yesterday and i saw a track i hadn't listened to in ages: "Easy Amplification" by Lee Harvey Oswald Band

i've owned this CD twice and for some reason it's just one of those CD's i can't take good care of. it's probably due to the fact that i listened to it so much.

i had three tracks from the album in my library that the sound quality was just terrible because they were ripped from one of the damaged CD's. i clicked on the track in the genius playlist yesterday and it came up with the album in the itunes store. this album has never been available anywhere so i just quit looking.

i bought it on the spot, left a 5 star review, and loaded it up on the ipod.

thank you genius!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I'm gonna listen, but right now, I'm a little .

And yes, I'm definitely feeling the lack of The Beatles. It won't add them to playlists either. :( I can't wait until they're finally added!

Original song: 'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin.

I can't argue with those selections! :)

Sorry guys, I didnt mean to post this in your thread. Mods can remove if you want. Thanks

Can't use the Genius... As it is right now.

I love the idea of the Genius. And I think it works very well. It is cool how it comes up with some ideas for music, that I didn't know I wanted to listen to :D

BUT I am missing some key features... Because most of my music is full albums, there is allot of tracks I don't want's hear. So a setting that will not play any unchecked tracked is a must!!! Or it could even be, "don't play tracks below X stars". As I have rating on all my music.

So for now I will have to stick to my smart playlists, that take my ratings in to account :(

I'm impressed with the selections so far, and that it includes tracks I've ripped off vinyl ("Lost in Music" in the attachment)
