we should leave captain mojave alone 'fer a while to solve this issues. But why do we havta run through hoops just to get things apple working on our apples? we never never hada do any font matching or rebooting this years ago!

Fixed. I think.

I tried disc repair as tromboneaholic suggested which didn't work and was just about to try his other option and re-install the OS when I saw Sun baked's suggestions.

I deleted all login items which suddenly quickened things up a lot, then deleted quite a few old apps and one in particular I use all the time 'Pathfinder', which has been giving trouble recently and 'bang' things seem pretty much back to normal, I hope. Seems Pathfinder was the culprit.

Thanks for the help guys, your time was very much appreciated.

I was surprised I didn't run into these issues with the 2007 iMac user account I migrated to Mohave on the 2014 Mini.

Had 150+ font issues, a bunch of really old login items and extension, and 80+ 32-bit apps to hunt down and purge.

Fun part was trying to figure out how to deinstall some of the ancient apps/extension in the system preference pane since I hadn't used them in years.

At least now everything on it is updated recently and should have no issues going forward, though hunting down a app to take the place of some deleted abandonware might be an issue later. At worst it'll mean booting up the 2007 iMac again.

What have they done? I installed Mojave, OMG! My mac is screwed. I'm not exaggerating here.

Many apps no longer work or even start up. I get the beach ball with almost every click of the mouse. I here on my PC because my mini is hopelessly slow using the net either with chrome or safari. Safari which I don't use much anyway keeps crashing. DVD's don't play anymore on my superdrive. The cursor stops, crawls, and jitters all over the screen, it's that bad.

I don't use time machine so I cant roll back. My OS is on an SSD so it's usually faster than most. How do I get out of this?

I had the same thing happen and the Apple online support told me to restart holding down Shift, Option, Command, and R. This will go back to the previous OS install
