I don't know what is the host system on these ready to use microSD, but it should usually be a Linux anyway.
Sheepshaver (like BasiliskII) usually can mount a shared folder called "Unix" from the host on the MacOS desktop.
It's an handy way to share files, if your host is reachable from your network of course.
You can define that shared folder in the SheepShaver preference file that is in your host user home folder,
it's called ".sheepshaver_prefs" (the dot makes it invisible in files browsers...).
you can open it with any editor, like: nano .sheepshaver_prefs
and check if there is a line starting with :
extfs
if not, just add a new line in that pref file like so :
extfs /home/YourUserName/
Then your host user home folder should mount on the MacOS desktop as "Unix" folder next time you start Sheepshaver.

About using USB ports in SheepShaver, some infos :

There is a precompiled BasiliskII in RetroPi according to this thread :
But didn't tried it myself.
I've built my own using this guide :

That's really helpful - many thanks!!!!

We won't support OSX/iOS anymore because of destructive decisions Apple make.

Yesterday they removed 32-bit and ok, it's was kinda understandable.
Today they will remove OpenGL for no reason.
Tomorrow they will remove possibility of running native code.

Originally, OSX/iOS support was added because it was easy to maintain, but when it rеquires more action from us, I don't think we can support it without a dedicated maintainer for this platforms.

Platform code will not be removed, so someone can take it and continue support but I will remove OSX/iOS ports from autobuilds, will not provide them in releases, close all rеlated issues as WONTFIX and finally remove it from list of supported ports.

So, Apple, f*ck you.

Interesting, I wonder if they will merge any PPC changes since none of the above applies (this is the Half Life open source engine). By the way, I agree.

Opened my iMac G5 20" iSight and cleaned it properly and re-applied thermal paste to the CPU, GPU and bridge controller.

Was a fun exercise and the temperature results after the fact was amazing.
I need to get around to doing the same thing... I've been procrastinating because it looks like a pain, and I also haven't gotten around to ordering an SSD yet.

Yeah, this is the 3rd time I've opened it up. First was to replace the super drive with a better one, 2nd time was to put in a SSD and this one was the big daddy.

If I can give one tip, is to follow the iFixit steps and be VERY careful with all the tiny connectors. I actually broke one, but could luckily save it with superglue.

The thing I always struggle the most with is the credit card trick at the back top get the screen off.

Guys, please have a look at this :).
Video is in russian, but I suppose you'll get the idea, may be subtitles could be of some use (here I see them in Russian). BTW, similar links from your countries are welcome :).

Answered @MoerBoer question on MorphOS Forum regarding firmware for screen spanning after I did install it on my iBook G4 12" which was hooked up to a SVGA projector yesterday running Leopard / Eclipse / Atari800Mac for a large 140 High x180 Width (in centimeters) screen :) and today installed Wayfarer 2.0 on MorphOS on the same iBook.

For some reason I'm in my iBook phase (probably spending too much time mucking around in MorphOS)

Me too. Waiting for summer vacation for this. It's my first service with a iMac G5 iSight. I was given this with a dead HDD diagnosis. It very well could be only that. I've got the SSD ready. It seems like a pain of a task in my opinion too, allthough I think I am quite seasoned opening iMacs at this time. This one looks tricky.

iFixit has been a good source for many repairs through time. That's why I buy stuff from them too, to support the site.

And Thanks for the tips.

Finally - Gentoo upgrade was finished after around 48 hours of compiling (I wonder what temperature CPUs had) :D. But this is not all. Now I have run the build of LibreWolf browser (FireFox clone). It will be nice if it ever finishes this task, because all my attempts to builf FireFox failed. It's a pity that LibreWolf got in it's dependencies clang - it is installed but LW requires a bit another version in other slot (gentoo feature :D ). Hope it's work.

It seems that one of HDD's in quad got troubles (SAS, with GPT & clone of Leopard on it). I hear sound of spinup & spindown. Neither OS can access it. Will try to connect it to some other PC & check if it can be fixed with sg_format or I'll need one more drive...

Guys, if you're in infernal temperature like here in Moscow and around - what is your favorite DRINK? :D
Mine is kvass :)

Cold beer, one bottle when I'm back home after work. Works well when it's 25-35C outside :)

I shamefully admit that I did nothing with my PowerPC today, but I have some plans for tomorrow.

Yesterday (27.06) my Quad stopped detecting SAS drives. It just hangs when I press OPT at startup (primary boot drive is set to Gentoo, which is not always OS I want to boot). Even when I leave it to autoboot - it just hangs at GRUB. Quick fixes like reconnect cables to SAS enclosure didn't work. (Why such things always happens with me..? Am I too curious at always looking for alternate ways of working with hardware..?)

Received today (for possible future repairs). Hope this model fits G5 Quad. (At least it has C-19 power connector). Photography is not among my talents but it is readable, I hope :D.

Was it my Quake 3 port?
It was what is up on the garden. My copy of Q3A is a bigbox Windows version, so I use that Mac port and my Windows version PW. Works everytime :apple: :apple:

Where can I DL your port?

Oh wait, Inet is down at home and won’t be fixed until Monday at the earliest (POS centurylink- think I’ll switch to xfinity). Welp, guess this gives me something to do next week :D

Got a bit of a shock today comparing video playback efficiency between my 1.67Ghz DLSD Powerbook and my Thinkpad X40 that has a 1.2Ghz Pentium M.

These are the CPU values playing back the same h264, 1.5 mbits/s, 30FPS, 1000X562 video:

Powerbook
Coreplayer 57%
FFPlay 61%
MPlayer 52%

Thinkpad
PotPlayer 39%
MPlayer 45%

This is with de-blocking turned off in Coreplayer, hard frame dropping in FFPlay/Mplayer and standard frame dropping in PotPlayer/MPlayer on the Thinkpad.

Really does illustrate what a leap forward the M was compared to G4 and the steady progress of optimised X86 software through the years.
