I was wondering what kind of headphones iPad owners use with their device. Do some of you use audiophile grade headphones? Or just some mainstream under $100 headphones. I ask because I intend to purchase Master & Dynamic splendidly crafted MH40 ($399) and wondered if other owners go for the hi-end and what results they have.
I use my Bose QC25s. Great cans. I use my Bose SoundSports for jogging.

Just purchased some B&W P7 wireless. Wow. I much prefer them to my AKG702. Seems like you are in a concert hall!

I use the Solo 3, I did recently notice a pretty big quality drop when using it through BT (more than the usual drop one would expect) but otherwise great headphones and makes switching between iDevices quite easy.

I use the Bose QC30 for daily use around the city and for travel domestically. For travel on international flights longer than 10 hours, I bring my Bose QC25. For home listening, I had been using the Audio Technica ATH-M50X, but I recently purchased the amazing Audeze Sine.

Beats Solo 3 at home, EarPods for conference calls, Shure SE215 (via lightning-jack adapter) in public transport

Love the Solo for its ease of use but I prefer a more subtle headphone in public.

Just got a pair of AKG N20 in-ear headphones, standard cable layout with remote. Remote is a bit big but the sound out of these is very nice in my opinion.

For on the go stuff I love my airpods. Once you use some for a few days it's hard to go back to anything else.

When I really need to block out sound or just want to really immerse into what I'm listening to, I use Samsung Level Overs. Great bt closed back cans with a pretty flat eq and pretty great noise cancelling. The downside is they are big, don't fold and really make you look like you're trying to imitate Princess Leia.

Airpods baby!!!!!

For gaming I have a pair of $100 sony around the ear headphones that perform good enough.

He're my headphones

Fostex T50RP Mk3 are my daily drivers. I put HM5 angles on them and taped the baffled for semi-closed response but they do still leak a bit. But the planar sound quality is worth at least 3-4 times the price I paid. If I had a spare $1000 I'd buy some Stax...

For more isolation I use my closed-back Meze 99's which sound awesome as flan.

In my experience the sound signal from a iPad or iPhone isn't worth investing in high end headphones. Fair to middlin' headphones, sure but avoid higher end stuff or reference class. I put my nice cans on my iPhone and all I hear is the compression. :)

I use the Klipsch X10i earbuds. I have had them for 7 years and they still work well. They came with 5 different types of oval eartips so I could get the best fit. They are discontinued now so if I had to replace them I am not sure what I would get.

Bose QC35 for basically everything at the moment, even for conference calls when I'm working from home. I did order a pair of cheap Anker BT earphones, so let's see how that will fit in my usage. I also have Sennheiser Momentum In-Ears, which I cannot really use with my iPhone 7 anymore, so they are collecting dust at the moment...

Airpods if absolutely necessary but really enjoy the iPad Pro speakers. They are fantastic.

For travel, I use Bose QC30 (witin the US) and Bose QC25 (for flights longer than 10 hours). For home listen ing, I had been using Audio-Technica ATH-M50X until I purchased the Audeze Sine On-Ear (in December 2016) and the Audeze iSine 10 In-Ear (in Feb 2017) headphones.

The M40x is slightly better if you're interested. Less mud in the bass frequencies. :)
