I was just thinking the other day that the black 'bezel' around the screen is a waste of what could be valuable screen space.

Instead of the home button, why not just use a gesture such as a 3 finger tap to display a dock to exit/switch apps etc, and maybe another gesture to activate/deactivate a 'dead' zone around the edge of the screen to prevent unwanted inputs on the touch screen yet still provide a greater viewing area.

You obviously have not used one before. How do you hold it without the bezel?

Why not just an 8.5" iPad with retina display that you can select scaling on? With 4x pixel density, you could probably double the visible page display and still have it reasonably readable.

I use my iPad landscape almost all of the time, and all websites i've every visited fit on it fine. Obviously you have to scroll vertically on most, but i have to scroll vertically on my 21" iMac too.

I wouldn't mind a slightly bigger iPad, but to be honest for most things i can't see a big benefit - everything seems to fit quite well and all big enough to be readable as it is.

I actually think the current size is practically perfect. It's just a bit bigger than a book, yet big enough to make things look kind of big at the distance you generally hold it. I would say lose the bezel, perhaps, but I do realize that the bezel seems perfect at keeping a lot of extra thumb prints off the thing as I tend to place holding thumbs and stuff along that bezel. That, and it offers room to put their other hardware features in.

I'm still waiting for a topic as funny as asking for a 25" Macbook Pro.

And the iRug would probably be better named, the iCarpet. That way it can still be a magical device. Thus we can properly call it a Magic Carpet. Arabian Nights for the win!

The weight would have to come down A LOT. Even the current ipad is just too heavy.

The iPad is too small to read PDFs comfortably.

Size should be A4.

But first get rid of the aluminium.

15" seems like an overkill. 11-13 would be ideal for me. However, I can't imagine how much that thing would weigh, cuz the iPad right now is pretty heavy for long term use.

An iPad that has a 15 inch LCD display so I can look at a full web page without enlarging. Even a 13 incher would be a relief.

I agree. This would be great for us older folks. Those in their 20s & 30s might not believe it... but for many of us in their 40s, 50s & beyond... our eyes are not what they once were.

People really think the iPad is too heavy? Are you guys standing and holding it for a few hours or something? I don't think I ever noticed the weight- as most of the time it is resting on my lap or propped up on the desk via the Apple Case.

I can see Apple releasing something like that, later down the line, in the form of an 'iPad Pro' for higher end uses like art and video. While it would most certainly be based on a similar interface to iOS on the iPad, I highly doubt it would be designed as a handheld tablet. —Probably more as an iMac-like desktop iPad.

You gotta wonder what the resolution would be on that thing though, especially with a retina display.

You gotta wonder what the price on that thing would be, especially with a retina display. We're talking a couple grand there.
