SSD standard, accessible RAM slots, solid GPU and cooling, target display functionality, and software that freaking works.

I would like a Mac Mini though (with the option of eGPU if that would even be possible).

I suspect that we’ll just see a processor & discrete graphics card spec jump with everything else remaining the same...

...Maybe just maybe the non retina screen and HDD only option disappearing and retina and fusion and SSD drives being the only choices...

The ARM iMac will be where we’re going to see a substantial redesign, I think:

Thinner and with no chin and barely any bezels etc. to a) relaunch the models b) entice ARM skeptics to make the jump.

touchbar ? i don't want to miss my escape key sir.. important

I agree about the touchbar! I have a 2017 13" MBP and the touchbar is the most "meh" feature of an otherwise excellent laptop.

I'm also nervous about losing the ability to upgrade the ram in the 27". I bought a 2015 5k iMac partially because I got a great deal, but also because I was worried that Apple would do to the 2017 iMac what they did to the MBP. Fortunately, the 2017 iMac proved to be a great update.

I think that the touchbar can only reach its potential if every single mac comes with it. If the desktops don’t have a touchbar, why should even diehard apple devs care about it? I think that a revision of the touchbar keyboard with a physical esc key would definitely be a possibility.

No, this does not void the warranty.
Do you know of any instances when someone had issues with a 2012 or later iMac, and they were able to get the part replaced for free under warranty despite having opened the iMac to upgrade something?

Apple could always make the claim that the damage was caused when the iMac was opened, even when it seems unlikely that would be the case.

Though it's technically possible to bring the TouchBar to desktop, I just can't see Apple selling a $200 keyboard with a fraction of the current Magic Keyboard's battery life. And though I don't own a TouchBar MacBook Pro, the consensus from most who do is that it's not an indispensable feature.

That makes sense. But I do think a magic keyboard with touch id and touchbar would both be beneficial for touchbar development and would be an easy thing to market. Battery life would be a problem. But it is oled and it is fairly small of a display. But yeah you’d probably have to charge it at least once ever couple days

i'd be happy for a spec bump at this point, they are killing the iMac brand by leaving it so long between update
I want a new imac so bad but I don't feel like waiting into 2019, so I'm getting one in 2018...update or not.

If only they had more competition like AMD vs intel now.

No, this does not void the warranty.

If Apple wants to they can make it so it so memory cannot be upgraded at all in a redesign by soldering the memory to the logic board. This is something they are likely to do.

It hasn't been that long since an update. The current 2017 iMacs are still top of their class.

Yup. Got the speakers replaced.

It's pretty obvious when Apple deny warranty: missing screws, ripped connectors, frayed wires, etc.

I would say no chance at a bigger size than 27" .. if they planning on increasing the size it would have been done with the imac pro first.
