One thing that crossed my mind regarding Apple and the possibility of entering the lower end market is the possibility of offering a "Lite" version of OS X to PC vendors. That way, it could be a stepping stone toward a real Mac, or a cheap solution of people who can't or won't pony up the cash for a Mac.

The problem with that is, those users may use OSX Lite and form an opinion of "pure garbage".. and see little need to upgrade to a 'real mac' with full OSX. Consumers see what is in front of them and don't do any research. They are lazy.

Apple at this moment in time have no need to offer OSX to windows users.. the Macs are selling very nicely. Apple use OSX to sell hardware.

More revenue is more revenue, even if Apple is as we speak pulling in plenty.

If Apple could target PC users, and offer a low-cost solution, it could work if Apple surveyed users beforehand and asked their views on how such an application should look/feel. It seems most software firms don't do this, since MS' Vista tanked, and it's a huge sunk cost with the R&D and programming involved in creating it in the first place. I reckon that a low-cost solution, which is cleverly marketed to consumers, can eat into Windows' PC domination. Even if MS responds with its own competitor to it, it still would mean better OS' for the end user.

90%market share....
yeah.. okay there.. lol
they DO NOT have that much power.. lol
do you really think apple's competitors would let them do as they please..?
i know you love your MAC but honestly you think the major competitors are nobodies? you honestly think they will just stand by and let their companies fall? haha dream on, many of the competition are very well reputable and very well respected which of course they built with blood and tears :p lol
also to be honest i havent seen any major businesses with MAC yet.. (only like classrooms or like retailers.. im sure there are tho but i doubt many businesses would prefer..)
