Time Warner Road Runner Cable. It's generally excellent and fairly cheap (extra $40 month) if you already have cable service with them.

The only provider available at my location is Alaska Wireless Cable with $60 a month for an advertised 512/256 but it actually comes at about 800/400. Its still rather expensive compared to the rest of you but my only other choice is the modem.

Here in Tokyo, I'm on a 100Mbps FTTH link that is shared among my apartment units using VDSL technology over phone wires to the riser room downstairs. Basically, there's about 10-15 subscribers in this apartment, and most of them not around at home much anyway.

So that 100Mbps (both up/down) is pretty much used by me mostly. All these for 2,980 yen (USD 25.74) a month.

Yeah, and I waste it all surfing MR forum all the time... LOL

Here in France I use 'Club Internet', which has reasonable service. I get about (2000kb/s down and 700kb/s up) using the Speakeasy test to Washington DC. It costs us around 20 Euros a month, with a wifi router and reduced rate phone service (VoIP).

Here I can get a great cable package and Internet for about $75 per month. Internet only is about $50 for VDSL (100Mbps).

Well spare a thought for us in rip-off britain where i am paying £25/$50 pm for 4mb. and mine is probably the best package around for the money. Bulldog is much cheaper but theres a reason ;) and I wouldnt touch them even with a PC.

Everest Cable... I think it's only in the Kansas City area. 100Mbps for $15 a month because I yelled at them for spontaneously disconnecting me and they reduced my price. :)

I use TELUS High Speed Enhanced, along with my basic telus landline. Comes to about 65 bucks a month . For speed, its awesome, never gets bogged down. 1.2 MBs. Still really fast.

BTW its ADSL.

I have 1.5Mbps down/384Kbps up and my parents pay $50 per month for it. I SO want to upgrade to Fios but alas it's not avaliable in my area yet. It would even be $5 cheaper for the 15Mbps down.

i'm on my school's network. Georgia State University....and i think it's 10MBps.....which i think is faster than Comcast (7-8 MBps)

for the people saying 100MBps....are you sure it's not 100KBPS ??? surely not 100MBPS....i know some big businesses have that, but that's gotta be over $100 a month for that....isn't that T1 or something?

I agree with you - they must mean 1MBps. That speed is / should be unheard of in homes. I think fibre to the home and VDSL might keep it at a consistent speed better than cable, though. Japan is miles ahead of us - I think most apartments there are wired with FTTH.

I have Cablevision Optonline here in NY, and it is advertised at 1Mbps, but it usually peaks at about 800Kbps, particularly since I'm using my wireless router too. I too pay about $120 for a silver package tv deal, DVR, and the internet combined.

Bell Sympatico HS/DSL unlimited. Bundled with my landline, and cell.

$34/mo for the internet, $5 montly for unlimited Long distance in the Americas. $35 for the cell, unlimited texting, 100 free mins prime time, free cell usage 8 pm - 7 am weekdays, and from 8pm Fri - 7am Mon.

Seriously, check out bundling, and haggle. Most IPS don't want you to leave, so threaten to, and have numbers to toss at them. It's amazing what you can get when you are armed and ready to deal.

Sounds good.

How long does it take to DL System 9.2.1 update from the Apple website?

My guess if you are getting true 100Mbps is that you will see some sub 10 second DL times.
