i was serious lol

yea i dont know. Everytime i run , mac keeper my mac runs heck of alot better and is not sluggish. No problems yet. Maybe the old mac keeper was the way but the new 3.0 is awesome
Please. You are not fooling anyone. If you persist in your praise of Mac Keeper, then I will place you on my ignore list and will recommend that others do the same.

Whether you call it malware, scam-ware, or some other -ware, MacKeeper is terrible and the people who sell it are terrible people. They "advertise" extensively on piracy websites, have incredibly annoying pop-overs and pop-unders, deliberately confusing windows that install far more than you want and are very hard to uninstall, and its product does nothing that you need. It's garbage, and anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant or a shill. There's no other mac program like it really for ubiquity on piracy websites and aggressive trick-installation alerts. Avoid at all costs.

You have not specified what, exactly, you do with the app when you run it. Also, "runs heck of alot better and is not sluggish" is extremely subjective, with no factual data to back up your claims. Given the overwhelming evidence throughout many years of problems caused by that app, combined with the fact that most, if not all, of it's functions are not capable of improving OS X performance, even if they run successfully, I'll discard your claim as being biased and/or uninformed.

Fortunately, enough has been revealed about this app that most informed Mac users are likely to spot a shill for the developer, and they aren't likely to fall for bogus praise reports, especially when there is no data to back up claims.

Well they probably or did have a bad name back years ago but they improved a lot. I have a computer science degree so I know computers well atleast windows and I know when a software is doing its job.

With mac keeper 3.0 it is doing a good job, i use the smart clean function. All I can say is that my computer runs smoother when I smart clean and it does get rid of old junk files left behind by apps and old apps

I love it and will stand behind the new 3.0 version

Try it out and report your findings back.

I agree the older mac keeper was crap but so was Norton and look at norton now, one of the best antivirus protection out for windows

If you dont like mac keeper then what other simliar program do you use and dont tell me the mac doesnt need to be cleaned because it does

What needs cleaning and why? In 4yrs I have never needed to run a "cleaning" app of any kind so I'm struggling to see what the issue is.

try it. Download mac keeper 3.o and run the smart cleaner. And tell me if you computer runs better, the same or worse

Nope, I have a personal policy of not installing random software with no need - especially when only recommended by people who clearly have no real idea of what it does, how it does it or what it might do.

If you don't have any idea what it does you shouldn't really be encouraging people to run it.

O who says i dont have any ideal you? uhm ok whatever you say...:apple:

you have no clue

No, they haven't. It's still a useless app, at best.
I have a computer science degree so I know computers well atleast windows and I know when a software is doing its job.
Having a C.S. degree means nothing and knowing Windows means even less. It's exactly that Windows mentality that MacKeeper relies on in hawking their app. OS X doesn't require interference from users or 3rd party apps for maintenance, like Windows.
All I can say is that my computer runs smoother when I smart clean and it does get rid of old junk files left behind by apps and old apps
Deleting files and apps has zero effect on performance in OS X. Only what's running affects performance. Your C.S. degree should have taught you that much. Also, no such app does a thorough job of removing files related to deleted apps.

Simply saying that your computer "runs smoother" is hardly conclusive, especially since you have no factual data to back up such a subjective claim.

Post some facts to back up your claim. What, exactly, needs to be cleaned?

You're welcome to do whatever you like. It's interesting that you would "defiantly" recommend such an app to others, if you don't care what they think, especially since you have no factual evidence of any performance improvement from using such an app, and since you clearly don't understand what the app does and doesn't do.

You also don't determine when the thread is done. Others can post if they have something to say.

From what I understand on what you've said, MacKeeper doesn't do any harm on your computer, therefore it must be good software. You haven't really outlined what it does or how it helps. You haven't provided any proof.

I can't begin to explain how preposterous this claim is.

Simply shutting down your Mac often and running a volume verification every now and then should ensure that your Mac runs smoothly. OS X looks after itself.

If you came into any tech company and recommended the end-users downloaded MacKeeper, you'd be told to clear your desk within minutes.

I'm sorry and I do apologize. I was wrong. I'm NOT using Mac Keeper , I'm actually using Clean My Mac 3.0 which I still swear by! I have no ideal how I got the 2 mixed up http://macpaw.com/cleanmymac

<sigh> Big ups for coming back with that though :D

I'd still hold that CMM is still unecessary but feel free to explain what it does that makes your machine run better.

All i can say is read there website, it does what it says and does a good job of it!

I did.

So whats your opinion on:

Freeing up memory? Do you know how OS X manages RAM?
Repairing Disk permissions? You can use DU for this.
Re-indexing Spotlight? Really? You don't think Spotlight can look after itself?

Its a nonsense app, I mean you can go and look for "old folders you have forgotton" yourself...you can empty your own trash...

What exactly did it get rid of when you used the "System Junk" setting???

This, this, this.

Memory cleaners for OS X do more harm than good. And everything else on that application can be done more efficiently by the user. It's pretty tragic how 'applelover4u' chooses to pay for this crappy software, and yet infers that we're the idiots.

Never mind Simonsi, I don't think you or anybody else will get through to them. They're stubborn in their ignorance. A user who knows a little but thinks they know a lot (CS degree) is far more dangerous than a user who knows nothing.

:D Perhaps CS stands for Crappy Software :D

That's even worse, but I'm sure you aren't interested in learning facts about that, either.

That explains a lot. So your C.S. education taught you to make software buying decisions based solely on the developer's marketing information? Hmmmm.
