I have been looking for a really great to-do app for my iPod touch. I need one that will let me organize things by day and will carry undone things to the next day. I also want it to have an icon badge for the things of that day. Also organizing by ategories would be great also but not quite as neccesary. Also if there was a way to take certain to do tasks and make them iCal ents for reminders that would be awesome. And I don't care how much this thing costs I need it bad.

I also use [app]Pocket Informant[/app] for to dos, works well for me, but then I don't have a lot of to dos. [app]Todo[/app] by Appigo may have what you're looking for. Great Todo app that syncs to the online service Toodledo. I think I remember reading somewhere that Todo has a desktop program to sync Todo with iCal, and through iTunes you could then sync iCal to your iPhone calendar.

If your looking for a very cheat todo... go with [app]TaskCard[/app]. It's very easy to use and it's 99cents. Pocket Informant is great but it's expensive and hard to use compared to TaskCard. TaskCard will make you a todo addict.

Things

I personally like the application Things

http://culturedcode.com/things/

I got the iPhone application and then went ahead and bought the full Things application.

My To-do lists are extensive and are organized by many categories. The fact that I can type the out fast on my computer and then sync them to my iPhone is very cool.

Check it out.

Another vote for Things. It is excellent! It will also sync to the desktop app as well.

I use Awesome Note. Like it quite a bit. It's easy on the eyes, and has a simple input system. It is also very easy to group tasks, and easy to keep track of each item.

I use ToDo, has push notification for reminders.
Can't beat it, imho

I believe there's also a lite version.

Give it a try?

Indeed there is a Lite version, but its not as intuitive as I thought. This whole Apple GUI is lost on me being a windows user still. That said its VERY similar in layout to the Things and BOTH cost the same $9.99CAN which I think is the same for the US app.

I just wish the pricing was reflected equally with the drop in the US dollar like Apple does with their products in a quarterly fashion.

I think I'll pay for Things ... but I cannot use its desktop app as I'm a PC user still :(.

EDIT: Just purchased Things. It seems easy and powerful enough - especially the ability to move To-Do items.

I bought and used ToDo (Appigo), Awesome Notes, Put Things off, Pocket Informant and TaskCards.

I end up using Pocket Informant, due to convenience of having Google Calendar and toodledo in same app and also auto syncing.

Killer interface is a plus.

A little expensive at $20, I absolutely love Omnifocus. Using webdav I can wirelessly sync all my computers and iphone. The iphone app has a feature that automatically sets up a calendar on the iphone that shows due dates of tasks. In addition that calendar can be subscribed to on the desktop.

I also like the nearby feature which uses gps which shows tasks relevant to my location. So if I'm near my home, office, school, etc it automatically shows tasks relevant to those locations.

It's primarily a gtd focused app, but I've found once I got into a workflow with the app it became second nature and significantly boosted my ability to get things done.

I use the flagging and due date features to make a list of things I need to complete today.

The only thing I really wish was there was the ability to add tags. But folders are good enough at the moment.

a lot of these todo apps are complete overkill (things, omnifocus, etc). they just complicate your task list with a ridiculous amount of bloat. you end up working on your todo list more than your actual list of things to do.

taskpaper and todo are both decent. i just use zenbe lists though.

looks like pocket informant doesn't allow you to set a To Do task to be due at a specific time? only a date? I'm I missing something? That seems shiet
Due time is in there. You switch on Due Time on the same screen that set choose due date is on, then the rollodex thing allows you to choose a time as well.

Hrmm I can't see it but probably because im using the lite version for testing.. no dramas :)

Here are Pics of How to Set time in Pocket Informant.

Things - $10 for the iPhone I can find value in. Then they want $50 for the desktop app. $50 for a To-Do app....lol

When the iPhone first came out in 2007 I wanted one. It did not have a todo list app which was something I really wanted so I waited. When the iPhone 3G came out, with the ability for 3rd party apps and such I knew I had to have one. The people that make Pocket Informant announced they would start developing an iPhone version. I loved Pocket Informant on my Windows Mobile phone so I got the iPhone 3G a few days after the 3G was launched (7/15/08). It took awhile for Pocket Informant to be released, it was released in March 09. Before that date I tried a few task apps, ToDo (Appigo) was the best of the lot. PI did have it's problems when first released but through a few upgrades most of those issues are now gone. Up until the last release I kept ToDo from Appigo on my iPhone as it does have some nice features that are not yet in Pocket Informant, but I find my self using it les and less and quite honestly since the laest update to Pocket Informant I haven't even opened ToDo, but I have not yet deeted it from my iPhone.

One thing I noticed about task apps on the iPhone is that they are mostly GTD (Getting Things Done) based apps. I'm a long time Franklin Covey user and Pocket Informant is one of a few apps that actually gives me the choice of using the Franklin Covey method of task management. So for me, that alone is a reason that I use Pocket Informant more. The integration of calendars is also a great feature. The Pocket Informant calendar is a thousand times better than the one Apple built into the Phone. Basically Pocket Informant has replaced 2 apps n the iPhone, Calendar and ToDo. A future update may replace a 3rd app that I am using when they add note ability so it may replace Notebook (also by Appigo).

As far as sync goes, Pocket Informnat syncs with Google Calendar and Toodledo. I can then sync my Google Calendar with Outlook via gSyncit and it works great. This also allows me to (as a backup) have MobileMe sync the Outlook calendar with the Apple Calendar on the iPhone. There is a sync solution to sync Toodledo tasks with Outlook, I tried that solution but didn't care for it so I still enter the tasks in Pocket Informant (either on the iPhone or through Toodledo on the PC) and Outlook manually. May not be a solution for all, but for me it works. At first I didn't think I'd like having to go through the web based apps (Google Calendar and Toodledo), but now that I have been using them for awhile I really like it. I can now access and update my calendars and task lists from anywhere I have access to a PC as well as from my iPhone.

Franklin Covey also has a task program (FCMobilelife Tasks), it's OK, and has gotten better over time and through some updates, but it does not sync to anything yet. They also just released FCMobilelife Goals which is great Goals tracker. Franklin Covey offers a product for Windows Mobile and Blackberry called FCMobilelife which syncs several apps together and I beleive they are slowly bringing this to iPhone one module at a time. I think once the other modules are developed they will bring the full Mobilelife service to the iPhone as well.
