That's ridiculous. Lossless is lossless so they MUST be equivalent or they are not lossless.

Do you mean that not only 24 wouldn't make it better since the CD is made in 16, it would actually make it worse because of having to convert to 24?

Nope, it'll be *exactly* the same: those 8 extra bits will always be 0. (That's if it is done right)
