thank you!!! i want it because its AWESOME and i use my ipod nano at work and every day that i work out, also in the car to play music! why not make it my phone also!

I'm 19, I'm buying the iPhone with my own money and I just bought a nice set of golf clubs with my own money as well. I am a gadget freak, I have a job, and I earn what I buy. You shouldn't be so rash in making assumptions about people.

Also, if I want my ringtone to be Party Like a Rockstar (which it probably will be), I'm going to do that and I really don't care what you think if the conditions are right. I obviously have etiquette and will put it on vibrate when in a nice restaurant, movies, out with guests, whatever. But if I'm in a Starbucks or a grocery store, you can deal with Party Like a Rockstar for the 4 and a half seconds it takes me to pull out my phone and click 'accept call'.

Sheesh.

QFT!!! ahh if i was only 19! well i guess i have it better hahah

An mp3 can be of any sound, not just music. I currently use the codec call from Metal Gear Solid on my phone and I would like to use it on the iPhone as well.

Sheesh.

Not gonna lie. I had to turn on Party Like a Rockstar once I read this... :)

i would say 90% of the kids 21 and under have earned it them self. i think the problem is that these grumpy old men are mad cause these young guns are raking in the penny's and the they them selfs cant afford it as much! (to the people that gripe about young people getting tech stuff!) why must we have this civil war!

Hahahaha! Werd.

I'm 23 and I currently make more money than most of my college professors (all but the tenured full professors). I bankrolled a $43k car a year ago and I'm living in a luxury downtown condo, all without any help from my parents. This Friday I'm going to stand in line for the iPhone (since my employer gives me every other Friday off for being The *****) and pay cash for it. And if AT&T wants me to put a grand down for a deposit, then I'll pay cash for that too. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Am I alone in thinking this is the most ridiculous desire imaginable? Am I the only one who thinks its rude and terribly obnoxious when "Party Like a Rockstar" starts playing as someone's ringtone in a public place?

In a word... NOPE. :) 3 people did this in the holocaust museum today... I was pretty baffled at how anyone could be that moronic.

Am I alone in thinking this has noting to do with the iPhone? I can do this on my FREE phone that I apparently do not deserve.

As for High School kids wanting an iPhone, it's still the same old thing, you want to look cool in front of your friends. Back in high school I had a pager for work, and boy oh boy I was the coolest kid until everyone had pagers. Now if a parent is dumb enough to get their kid an iPhone well thats on them and their not teaching their kids about responsible living. Take for instance this girl I know. She is 21 her parents got her what she wanted and there was never any sense of financial responsibility. Now she is unemployed with a sidekick 3 and a new laptop that she bought after she lost her job. Now she has a plan to call her credit card company and tell them she can not pay her bill, she thinks this will be fine, mean while she is talking to her landlord and saying "Oh sorry I can't pay rent for a couple months'

This is a very bold and very biased statement to make. I am 17. I have a job. I have a car. I paid for my own car. I pay for my own gas and pay for my own car insurance. I will be buying my iPhone with my own money and will pay for the 40 or so dollar a month data plan with my own money. Sure my mom pays for the voice plan, but thats because we share minutes on a family plan. I have a great grasp on "financial responsibility". I think your statement is way off base. Just because a child can afford an expensive product it doesn't mean that they are spoiled. Sure kids do get spoiled but you can't just generalize a whole demographic of people. Also, you have to think about that through the parent's point of view. They obviously want their child to be happy. That is why they buy their child certain material things. I know for a fact that is the case with my friend's parents. They didn't have such nice parents whn they grew up, which didn't exactly lead to a great upbringing. They give my friend certain things, obviously nothing too extravagant, to make him happy and hope that he has a better life that they had. Also, not every parent spoils their children, once again generalizing. Many children my age have a sense of "financial responsibility".

I also don't particularly like the OP's original post. I do not like how he/she has generalized kids as being obnoxious based on their ringtones. If a kid, or anyone for that matter, wants to have a certain song as their ringtone I think you can stand that ringtone for the 4 seconds while the person take their phone out of their pocket and answers it. Maybe the OP doesn't have a great sense of the history of music or how its changed in the last 40 years. I do. I have such a broad spectrum of music listening that goes all the way back to the 60's. Obviously the OP doesn't like the music of the 2000's(honestly neither do I), but you have to respect the person's opinion and taste in music. Not all children are obnoxious or discourteous. I think that I am a respectful person and have a sense of courtesy. I understand that you silence or put your phone on vibrate when you are in certain places like your job, the movies, a doctors office, an office building, or a restaurant. Obviously some people don't, and these people annoy me as well, but you can't just throw a bunch of people into a group and classify them as obnoxious. Also you can't complain that people's phones go off in a MALL. Come on, you can't be serious. A mall is one of the most public places known to man. You can't complain when someone's phone goes off in such a public place. Thats like complaining when someones phone goes off in an amusement park. It's rediculous. I know you might not agree with my ideas but I respect your opinion, I was just disagreeing.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents.
