Thts one of things you DON'Twant to say to canadians:

LMAO... Why, are you gonna release a mountie with a hockey stick on us or something, ya hosehead...lol...

Just kidding man... That's good that you're proud of your country- stay true- it's an admirable trait...

well im not sure what to say. first i wouldnt say steve jobs is the nicest man around, ive heard he is quite the dick actually when it comes to orders at apple. he was ousted back in the day afterall.

ok, second i gotta laugh at some guy posting that canada had won the best country award. what the hell is that? there cant be such an award and i dont think canada is all too hot.

imacintel, please STOP it - you're giving us Canadians a bad name. "Best country award"? "Don't make a Canadian angry"? Are you serious?! I'm Canadian and I'm not even going to agree with these points. Come on man, it's embarrassing... :p ;)

OMFG, is that true?? In Canada(won the best country award:D) the minumum someone has to be payed is 8.00/ph

Well, now that you mention it, there is a minimum wage law here in the US. Geez, if they only paid him a buck a year I think Apple owes Jobs a little back pay...

Anyway, for the topic of the thread, I doubt there are many large corporate CEOs who would do something like this.

dear god how did a thread about Steve Job's Salary turn into an America vs Canada thing?

You must be new to the internet, lol

Just to head off this tangent, minimum wage laws only apply to non-salaried, non-exempt, hourly workers. A salaried employee can make any amount the company chooses. By doing so, they cede their 'right' to a 40 hour work week, as anyone who's worked for a startup company (or law firm, hospital, etc.) can tell you.

this has nothing to do with labour laws or practices. This is a "good will" salary paid to steve. 8/hr might be the minimum for hourly work, but the fact is people are paid in salary based on a year, not on the actuall time they put in. I'm sure you can find plenty of professions where the salary & hours worked does not add up to $8/hr.

Please, get off your high horse (both about Canada "winning" the best country award and just your general attitude in these forums) and learn to play nice(r)

That may not be correct here in California. From an article I read today:
Few people know it, but in California a $1 salary is against the law. State labor laws require full-time employees to make a minimum wage of $6.75 an hour. "To be in full compliance, these CEOs who are getting a dollar-a-year salary should be getting at least minimum wage for every hour they spend on the job," said Dean Fryer, spokesman for the California Labor Commissioner. In fact, Fryer added, CEOs are exempt from overtime, which means they should be paid at least twice the minimum wage, or about $28,000 a year. "We're not going to spend our time pursuing something like this unless we have a complaint filed on behalf of an employee," Fryer said.

I don't think Steve Jobs is complaining about is salary. Last I checked some of his gifts have included a $90 million jet and millions in Apple stock shares.

He always wear cool dark slick clothes for WWDC, etc. while bill gates get something fugly from TJ max, etc.

Way to resurrect a 2-month old thread. I thought this thread was done, evidently not... :p

1 Dollar Salary is always nice

That is more of a "tax evasion while looking nice for public politics" trick any anything.

He is more than very wealthy, the largest share holder in Disney, and contrary to his salary, makes millions from Apple.

What of it, if any, that he donates back or uses for charities, I don't know.
