Right now, extended display isn't working on anything unless you're on the latest beta (or if you froze on an earlier beta supporting it).

Ok that’s the main thing I was looking forward to to trying out. Checked on some YouTube videos where they show it’s working. That’s why I thought it was already available. Thanks for confirming.

I’m still getting accustomed to Stage Manager. I’m not sure that I like it, but it does have its uses. Take a look at this video of somebody with max-level iPad drag/drop skills for an idea of what is possible:

You were not kidding about max-level iPad drag/drop skills. Very impressive, I had no idea so much could be done with drag and drop.

It’s so annoying that I can’t stack two windows vertically in stage manager in landscape.

AFAIK only M-series iPads will offer extended display support though.

Checked on Apple support page for stage manager. It doesn’t say anything about that. Just says compatible for iPad Pro 11” 1st Generation onwards. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is from Apple
"
Delivering this multi-display support is only possible with the full power of M1-based iPads. Customers with iPad Pro 3rd and 4th generation have expressed strong interest in being able to experience Stage Manager on their iPads. In response, our teams have worked hard to find a way to deliver a single-screen version for these systems, with support for up to four live apps on the iPad screen at once.

External display support for Stage Manager on M1 iPads will be available in a software update later this year."

Where’s this mentioned on the website?

I don't use it on my Macs let alone on a tiny iPad screen. It's a horrible experience. They should've done it the Mac way or not at all because it sucks in current form. It would be somehow usable if we could resize and move around windows easier.

Exactly ,on macs its kind of pointless since we already have great UI, but on the ipad, i would use it only with external monitor

Stage Manager doesn’t need turned on to use the external monitor. The external monitor will show as though Stage Manager is turned on, but the iPad will remain with it off. Additionally, if you don’t like the bottom dock and left side icons with Stage Manager on, they can be turned off by long pressing/right clicking the Stage Manager icon in Control Center.

Now that display support has been separated from Stage Manager, it's not going to mention it in an article about SM. However, on the iPadOS page.

Thanks but this also doesn’t say that it’s only available to a few of the devices in the Pro line up.
