Runner up=Dashboard...only because you can't place widgets on the desktop without either a third party app or the developer script.

i vote itunes

i have to say itunes for the simple fact it is the app which made me switch to the light side of the force. that and it continues to be the app leading the digital music/video/media revolution through ease of use and ipod integration.
