I have an XS Max and was wondering what the best keyboard for the phone is

Do you use the stock keyboard or can you recommend any good third party ones?

G Board is the best keyboard ever. One handed mode on the Max. Swiping. Search. Customizable theme. 10/10

What about the auto correct

Don't you find its not as good as the stock keyboard? Or do you have yours turned off? Is there any particular settings on GBoard you recommend?

I have no issues with it and it improves over time as you use it more. The suggestions are always on point. I have all the settings turned on. They also added haptic feedback for key touches now which is cool.

should be in the app settings, or on the keyboard itself press and hold the settings button

I always stick to stock. The google keyboard is good but I really don’t like to share my private chats / passwords with google. So deleted it after trying out for a bit.

Swiftkey. Has one handed mode & is better at remembering hashtags (if you’re a Twitterer).

The only settings I’ve enabled are Quick Period, Auto Capitalise, Swiftkey Flow (of course) & Quick Emoji Key. Oh & Clipboard.

Really so you recommend swifkey?

Well I use it more on iPhone than both the Apple & Google keyboards so yeah.

& if you have all three, the iPhone's smart enough to remember which keyboard you used last in a specific App & even specific Message recipients, so if you prefer SwiftKey for one App, but prefer Apple keyboard for another, it'll switch automatically.

I will try Swiftkey and give it a try actually

Is one handed mode better to use? Also any settings you recommend I should use?

I enable it now & then, but find I go back to full width as my thumb can reach anyway. If you had a wider XS Max, then one-handed mode may be more handy.

I mentioned my settings above.

Thanks

When texting and emailing do you use the swipe function or do you just type?

Also how do you switch to one handed mode?

I swipe - it’s the main reason I use Swiftkey.

Apologies - one handed mode is on the Google & Apple keyboards.

Swiftkey doesn’t have a one handed mode for IOS, only android.

Try Google’s keyboard if you want both a Swipe feature & one-handed mode.

I don't think full access is necessarily for every keyboard.

As far as I know, you do need to provide full access. iOS asks for permission at the beginning when you install and want to use a keyboard. It’s specifically mentioned there as far as I remember.
