4S. I'm Pleased with the result. It will be good for the consumer not bad as Samsung make out. They will just have to "Think outside the box" when they release their future Phones.

Their TV's are damn sexy so they do know a bit about design.

p.s I really dislike Samsung so know how hard it was for me to type the above :D

I think they've already started to do that with their later phones (S2 and S3). S3 doesn't look anything like an iPhone and has some really innovative features :D

I actually prefer it when they don't copy Apple as much. Apple copies too though, they don't invent everything like some people on here like to think.

Mattye, you are wasting your breath. I shouldn't have fed the troll. Sorry...

This is what I hate about Apple fans. They think Apple invented things they didn't invent and then accuse everybody of copying Apple. Apple (or the company that created Siri) shamelessly ripped Siri's UI from Xiaoi Bot:

http://www.ijailbreak.com/news/apple-sued-china-siri-xiaoi-bot-voice-assistant/

Siri looks far more like Xiaoi Bot than S Voice looks like Siri. Get a grip.

That is definitely enlightening, I never heard about that. However, the combination of functionality and design are still unique to Apple, and it's impossible to claim S-voice didn't try to mimic Siri in that way.

I have both a S3 and 4s. There's very little doubt in my mind the blow will be much less when the appeals process goes through. It's clear the jury was a collective group of idiots led by a "patent holder himself", so you know he was the proverbial ****** who thinks he knows everything, there's always one in a group.

Just remember RIM had to pay NTP (a patent holding company over 600 million) to settle a patent.

That was before the real smartphone wars and before the masses had smartphones. These days close to 50% (of Americans) have smartphone. Back when RIM settled for 600 million maybe less than 10-15% of Americans had smartphones.

1 billion. Samsung is getting off pretty easy. Apple wanted 2.5 billion.

The point I'm making is that every company copies other companies, it just seems to be that a lot of people think Apple invents everything and everyone else copies, which isn't true. Apple copies just as much as other companies.

What you said highlights what Apple does PERFECTLY: they take various bits of existing technology, combine it all and create something a lot better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFeC25BM9E0 - this video is a good watch :) They refer to Apple as a "recipe company" which I think is a good name to describe them.

I totally agree with you. Apple takes some obscure interaction or function and makes it a mainstream standard, and that's still innovation. ALL companies copy each other, I just get annoyed by people trying to assert that Apple doesn't innovate. Google innovates, Apple innovates, and they both take each other's innovation.

I have a galaxy note. I don't agree with the ruling. I think if you have existence of a device using. Touch to zoom and etc which predates the iPhone, then Apple shouldn't get to sue another company for using it.

I'm no brand fan as I'm looking at the Note 2, Xperia T, and the new Blackberry coming out.

I have an HTC Incredible S... although atm, it's out of commission. Hoping to replace it with a used Galaxy S, for the time being, till I can afford to get a new phone. I dunno whether to replace it with the upcoming iPhone... or a Windows phone. See, I'm not biased!

Now, I haven't followed the case closely, but this is what I get from what I've seen/read:

Honestly, I think the verdict was stupid. It's as though Apple can't stand ANY competition at all, which really annoys me. I love Apple products, but I also love Android products, but the things Apple have accused Samsung of 'stealing', are, imo, ridiculous.

It's as though Apple are trying to dominate the market completely, with phones, tablets, and computers - though not so much with them. It bugs me, because Apple stuff is expensive, and if they try and dominate those markets, then I feel that people would just not be able to afford they're stuff.

I might be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting from Apple. Google at least open-sourced it's OS so anyone could use it, therefore enabling budget phones, and tablets. Sure, they might not be as good, but it at leaves gives the consumer something they're able to afford. If Apple keeps picking off companies, and the only option are Apple products, then I get the impression people will just stop using Apple products.

I just switched to an SGS3 from an HTC Desire Z. Prior to that, I had a Nokia N97.

I have some concerns about the jury after reading about their post-trial interviews. It casts some doubt in my mind on whether they properly considered the evidence and followed the instructions they were given.

I would say that I don't like the verdict. I can't say that I don't agree with it at this time.

I believe Samsung did copy Apple, actually I believe it's very obvious they did.. However I recently switched from an iPhone 4S to a Samsung Galaxy S3

Therefore: I agree with the verdict and I use a Galaxy S3.

I'm an android phone user but I use Macs for my laptops.

Whether the verdict was the correct one or not is irrelevant to me as I believe the jury deliberation process was seriously flawed due to the foreperson's biases.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if his mouthing off results in an easy appeal for Samsung.
