IOS 5 had the lock screen notifications that L just got, we have health kit, home kit, there already is Apple TV, Apple already has deals with car manufacturers and have iOS in the car, Airplay has been here since iOS 4 so Android was just catching up with today's announcements. Only thing Apple hasn't shown off yet? iWatch and the rumours of that are intensifying.

Copying good, hypocrisy bad.

Wait, you mean Google copied iOS on lockscreen notifications, even though Google has had it on devices for over a year? Your honor, I present you with exhibit A: its a Google device called the Moto X.

Health kit? So Apple copied Samsung and now Google is copying Apple? How does that make any logical sense? If anything Google is copying Samsung.

Airplay. I give you a sort of on this. I say that because the Chrome to Phone feature has been in Googles code since around 2010. Google just hasn't done much to it.

But beyond that, you have to remember that Google has been working on all this long before Apple ever announced ios8 a month ago. If Google had I/O a week before Apple, what would you have said then? Apple played catch up?

I don't care who copies who...in the end, we as, consumers, win!

Yeah I'm pretty much of that opinion. I don't care who came first, I just want the best experience and the competition between them drives them all on for a better experience to us.

Same opinion here.

But I have to add that i absolutely dislike arrogant and hypocrite apple for intensifying the animosity between fans of both platforms with its ridiculous lawsuits using prior and copied features.

I never have this kind of dislike for Apple before their lawsuits.

I thought they were needlessly trolling in the WWDC conference about android too. It was juvenile.

I don't know how people can claim/think Google put all this together in a couple of weeks and say they copied Apple....

Yep and when Apple comes out with that I'm sure you'll say Google pre-emptively copied Apple or some rubbish....

You hate me don't you? Of course Google has the smart watch's and have them first, if anything, Apple will b copying Google in this instance:rolleyes:

Don't assume a single damn thing about me ok?

----------

I don't know how people can claim/think Google put all this together in a couple of weeks and say they copied Apple....

Yeah, except, THAT'S NOT THE POINT!

I'm saying that a lot of people say that Apple copies but if Google does it's "magical" and "really cool and new"

----------

Moto X, available in select countries. nothing like the iOS version or like the new Android version if lock screen notifications.

----------

Yes you are right...they designed, developed and deployed all these so called copied ideas all in the time since Apple announced them. Not only that but in some cases they have made significantly more progress than Apple have. Not bad for what you are claiming is a few months work!

Most of the instances where Apple was accused of copying were for features that had been in Android for YEARS....and most people citing these instances only did so to point out the hypocrisy of Apple for their barrage of lawsuits whilst at the same time doing exactly the same thing they were suing others for.

Your whole thread is an obvious troll.

Yeah, I'm an obvious troll, you got me!

From what I've seen, your posts are very biased towards Android which isn't a bad thing but tone it down a little please. I'm just not going to get into this with you specifically.

Re-read your first post. Then read my signature. I am by no means an Android fanboy but your extreme posts even rub me the wrong way.

You come across as a wolf in sheep's clothing - as if you own an Android device in order to justify your obvious pro-Apple biases and i'm not even sure if you are aware of the tone of most of your posts. Either that of you are being controversial for the sake of controversy.

Prove me wrong - link to a thread started by yourself in the iOS forums that is framed in a similar way to this one (except with iOS as the subject) and I will be the first to apologise to you.

Yeah, except, THAT'S NOT THE POINT!

I'm saying that a lot of people say that Apple copies but if Google does it's "magical" and "really cool and new"[

Where has anyone asserted this?

What i can do is find you dozens of examples of Apple fanboys doing this in response to things such as notification centre etc..

Both sides are guilty of this but you are acting as if it is only Google fans, I would argue that Apple is more guilty because:

1. They were the ones who started throwing accusations around
2. They were the ones who started suing everyone
3. For the last 2-3 years, Apple has been doing the vast majority of the feature catchup (AKA copying)
4. For a lot of the stuff which Google did copy from Apple early on, they have re-engineered new implementations (eg elastic banding on scroll)

Yes, Google introduced a couple of long overdue features which have been in iOS for ages (screen casting etc), but in other instances where they have entered markets Apple is in (Android TV vs Apple TV), they have extended functionality significantly.

Almost all of the major stuff (in car, wearables, most Android 5 features), Apple has either only just made an announcement (and thus they would have been in both Apple and Google product pipelines for a long time) or Apple is only rumored to be doing them.

Despite the massive amount of products and features announced, you chose to focus on a few relatively minor features (which Google did take from Apple) and generalise that to be "Google copies and are hypocrites" and then act surprised by our reaction.

When Apple has been accused of copying (particularly iOS 6 and 7), the features taken from Google were extensive and were central to their presentation.

We could say Google copied Apple, then people will point out that Apple copied Google last WWDC, and then it goes in circles back in time to previous events until we arrive at the unprovable accusation that Android copied iOS in version 1.

So there's little point. Each platform thinks of great ideas, all platforms steal said great ideas from each other.

Apparently there's a Do Not Disturb feature in the L release...

(5th row up from the bottom, white text)

Is that the same as "Quiet hours"?

Health kit? So Apple copied Samsung and now Google is copying Apple? How does that make any logical sense? If anything Google is copying Samsung.

Copied Samsung? Samsung launched their whole health campaign around February of 2014 while Healthbook rumors for iOS 8 were rolling since iOS 7 came out in September 2013. At the iPhone 5s introduction they talked all about the M7 coprocessor and how it specialized in health and motion tracking.

Let's have a look here:
Burst mode camera
Do Not Disturb
64 bit
Device rotation lock
Game controller support

All of these were intoduced from iOS 4-7

I don't care enough about what Google does with Android to be personally offended when they copy Apple. Its typically the Android users that bring up copying in an attempt to Apple bash.

The truth is in a smartphone, certain features just make logical sense. Both companies can come to the same conclusion independently. Or maybe they get influenced by one another. In the end, who cares? Just shut up and buy whatever phone you want.

There were some undeniable similarities in presentation. They used a lot of they same buzzwords too, like "bold new design" and "focusing on your content"

How about a description a little less vague than "old flip phone from 8 years ago", because if there really was burst mode on such a phone, I would imagine the result to be unacceptable quality

Ehh, not too worried.

I use Windows, Windows RT, OSX, and Chrome computers and I can say without a doubt my Chrome laptop is the least useful (though it has AMAZING battery life).

I didn't get an iPhone because I love my phone. I got it because I love the integration into all my other stuff. My computer, my Apple TV, sharing amongst devices.

Even being able to take a picture on my phone, upload it to icloud and my wife gets a notification on her phone AND it shows up as a screen saver on my Apple TV is a very nice feature. That's why I like Apple stuff.

Knowing that everyone borrows ideas from everyone else I can't wait for the day when all mobile OSes are exactly the same. We will have reached a quantum singularity in the mobile OS wars and everyone will be happy. That is, until someone points out that the font size is 2.3% more legible in one OS and the cycle starts again.

The S Health example wasn't good enough?

http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Samsung-E715--E710-review_id48

Actually sorry, it was 10 years ago.

The camera on it was pretty good. It took 10 or 15 burst shots, don't quite remember. Of course, technology was limited back then and you couldn't just hold it down to shoot burst shots forever. But it still took 10-15 shots with one click.

Doesn't matter. Burst mode isn't something new.

And Burst Mode has been a staple of Lumia phone cameras for a few years now. I know its not Android, but I believe WP was the first to have this feature in a smartphone? I could be wrong???
