Just throwing out some humor as this forum has become quite dead over the past few days.
To my knowledge the 2019 Mac Pro includes at least two USB ports. What happened to at least a few USB ports?
While I created this thread in jest I did so while ripping some DVDs on my PowerMac G5 so that I could download them to my iPad. I then got to thinking...what is the official Apple position for using optical media on the 2019 Mac Pro (besides not using it)? Will their external DVD drive work with it?In all seriousness though, I’m actually a little annoyed that there isn’t at least the space to add an internal Blu-ray drive for those that actually need one. As a filmmaker, I make Blu-rays and UHD discs all the time. It’s going to be annoying to have to use an external drive when there easily could have been a design to accommodate an internal one instead.

None of the kids here remember the ancient IEEE 1394 ports....In the base config it has 2 and I should have said Firewire, where is my Firewire. LOL

...and there's one on the inside for some reason. To my knowledge the 2019 Mac Pro includes at least two USB ports.

On the 6,1 you had to enable the external superdrive via terminal command. While I created this thread in jest I did so while ripping some DVDs on my PowerMac G5 so that I could download them to my iPad. If you have another Mac that supports the slim Apple USB Superdrive you should be able to share it with the MP7,1. I do this with my iMac Pro.While I created this thread in jest I did so while ripping some DVDs on my PowerMac G5 so that I could download them to my iPad. I want to see a person pulling their mighty MP7,1 beastie having wheels, behind them at the airport just as if it's a nutcase (sorry, a suitcase I meant).Just throwing out some humor as this forum has become quite dead over the past few days.
Mentioned by the kid ‘GoMac’ in this thread and aka Serial port!None of the kids here remember the ancient IEEE 1394 ports....

Especially given the "randomly lose the external drive" bug that's still present in 10.15...In all seriousness though, I’m actually a little annoyed that there isn’t at least the space to add an internal Blu-ray drive for those that actually need one.
