Thoughts of your X vs 15 Pro Max?
I’m impressed already though, admittedly, transitioning slowly. I haven’t yet transferred over cellular service, and have been using it somewhat as an extra iPhone right now — I know 😧 … 😄 I prefer to do researched steps, when possible, regarding transfers. Additionally, I figure, I’ll motivate myself to go cycling at least a couple more times — it’s now cold but the snow isn’t flying yet — and do a partial apples-to-apples comparison of cell service between the two phones.

Anyway… Overall, the UX is indeed more fluid, however, I’ve noticed a night and day difference with apps such as Amazon Music, which has been quite laggy since it gained the album cover colors blur into background effect like Apple Music. Without the case, the 15 PM feels similarly sized and weighted to the X. I’m not yet sure about how much I utilize, like AOD, though I’ve left it enabled for now. The speaker system is noticeably better. When the next document scan need and photography opportunities come along, I’ll be able to further/better judge processing and camera performance. Lastly, as for the Action Button, I don’t feel I’ve used the iPhone enough to know what’s going to be the most handy action.

I upgraded from the SB 14 pro to the BT 15 pro and it really felt like I just bought the same phone in a titanium flavor. I returned it because my phone is still pristine and the battery has been consistent despite what the health percentage says, it didn't feel like it was worth it right now. I may change my mind but for now I'm good.

I went from an 11 Pro to a 15 Pro. Huge upgrade. One of the reasons I upgraded was that Overcast was very laggy on the 11 Pro. That is completely fixed. I’m enjoying the bigger screen. With the AOD I can put the phone on a stand and see the weather, battery charge of various devices, any timers that are running and Now Playing, which is all useful even though I wear an Apple Watch. Also love being able to use the action button to turn on do not disturb instantly for meditations etc. The dynamic island is also good for showing the time remaining for Uber Eats etc. Haven’t used the camera much so far but I’m expecting that alone to be worth the upgrade. Also love being able to limit the charge to 80% and preserve the battery since I have access to chargers most of the time.

Came from an 11 and it’s a big upgrade. Screen is amazing. Not just promotion, the resolution and colors, everything looks so good. The sides being flat is great. I’ll never understand why some prefer rounded. DI is neat. Speakers are so much louder. I couldn’t care less about usb c and battery life could be better, but certainly isn’t bad. No overheating or dust in my lenses or any of that. Very happy with my purchase

I went from a 12 regular to a 15 regular and besides Dynamic Island and USB-C, I wouldn’t know that this wasn’t still my 12. Nothing wrong with that by the way, 12 was a fantastic phone so I’m actually happy that things didn’t change that much.

From what I’ve read the 15 has a much better image sensor so when I get around to taking photos and videos I’m sure I will see some improved detail and night abilities there as well.

Well, I have a 12 and been tempted to get a 15. Is it worth it?

I upgraded from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max and photos and videos are noticeably better now. Photos aren't over-processed garbage and taking photos in low lighting is much better. Playing around with 4K 60 FPS ProRes has been fun. The biggest change I noticed was going from only being able to take 1 RAW DNG photo every 2-3 seconds to now being able to take 2-3 RAW DNG photos every second. The 15 is also better at capturing moving images. I can now take still pics of my neurotic dog that never stops moving, whereas I gave up entirely trying to get any sort of good photo of him with my 14.

Battery life is still absurdly long, so it's about the same.

Didn’t go with a 15 Pro? Back when the iPhone X came out you were quite vocal about the attention you got from it accentuating your six figure salary and trophy wife, not to mention your distain for people not being able to afford the most expensive iPhone. I’m surprised to hear you’ve had 2 standard iPhones as you once mocked me for having an 8 Plus.

A change in circumstances or were you on a 2 year wind up?

Don’t forget the BMW and the beach house, remember the X photos in the leather case next to the BMW key.
He gets his phones for free now apparently, the trophy wife must be costing more now cause of inflation 😂

Well, I have a 12 and been tempted to get a 15. Is it worth it?

The case to go to a 15 from your 12: The 12 is worth less on a trade-in as the months go by, right now your carrier will offer you the most value for it. Your battery health is in the 80's, will only get worse. Photography is important to you, the 48MP camera and much-improved image sensor are said to provide a big quality jump. Being able to make any photo into a Portrait photo saves you if you forget to choose that mode. The new Selfie camera makes you look better on FaceTime. You spend a lot of time outdoors and the new 2000 nit display makes it much easier to see screen detail. You have a lot of accessories that use USB-C and it'll be more convenient not to drag around Lightning cables and USB-A charging bricks anymore.

The case to stay in your 12 and skip the 15: The improvements are subtle. Dynamic Island is nice, but not a must-have. Faster processors are nice but you aren't an intense gamer. Camera enhancements are nice but you only them casually and infrequently. Brighter display is nice but you aren't struggling to see detail currently. Trade in value is not important or your carrier isn't playing ball with free phones. Your battery lasts all day and isn't a problem. All your accessories use Lightning so you're not in a rush to convert everything to USB-C.

XS to a base 15. Overall I like it a lot, it takes good photos (good enough for my purposes) and is reasonably lightweight and comfortable to hold. I‘m retired and at home most of the day, so I mainly use my iPads for online stuff, and the phone is mainly for calls, texts, and the base station for my watch when I’m out and about.

13PM - 15PM.

Screen is much brighter outside. Feels snappier and a quicker. Camera is without question much nicer. 5G speeds are better as is wifi. I’m pleased with it, the latest software update fixed 99% of people’s issues as well.

Thank you for your post. I have the 12 Pro and will wait until the 16 comes out because what you say, the 15 is almost like the 12 anyway, so there’s no point in upgrading. Rarely use the camera, care less about USB-C port, brighter screen would be nice, but I can wait another year for that, don’t play games on my small screen, and only use mine for phone calls, texting, a little YouTube stuff. I’m a light user, so no point in spending over a grand for, something that I am fine with for another year.

Personally I had an iPhone 13 128gb and have chose the iPhone 15 Pro.

The camera is night and day and I do really notice the smooth scrolling from the 120hz display.

AOD is pointless imo, but I like the dynamic island. Also my eyes don’t feel as jaded reading in dark mode at night.

Battery is better, but that’s more because my iPhone 13 had 91% health I guess.

When I got my 13 the aim was always to get the pro next time around. My partner was happy as she got my old phone, she was coming from an iPhone SE 2, so it was massive upgrade.
I upgraded 14 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max. The most noticeable and appreciated change is the very light weight. The very light weight is friendly to light material short pocket when the phone in the pocket preventing from possible wardrobe malfunction😁

Happy to have helped, it's funny how all these YouTubers and even Apple themselves only a) talk about the 15 Pro models and b) only compare the 15 Pro to the 14 Pro. Meanwhile, half the potential buyers for the 15 are c) in the regular model and d) are in phones 3+ years old. Reality check on how they market these things.

Not sure who your carrier is, but I'm with AT&T and their iPhone 15 launch promo got me into a 15 256GB for free with the trade-in of my 12 256GB. They even waived the activation fee. So perhaps upgrading wouldn't cost you a lot, worth a phone call to find out.

From 6 yr old iPhone X to 15 ProMax. I see improvements in every aspect and couldn't be happier with the upgrade. I used to upgrade every two years and I wasn't noticing much of a difference between devices.. Waiting 6yrs may have been a little too long but I definitely got my money's worth out of my X and it was a wonderful device.. Hopefully my 15PM will be just as

I went from an iPhone XS to iPhone 15 Pro, yeah, you could say it's an upgrade! This should last me 3+ years.
I resemble that remark. 😁 I purchased my XS in January 2019. Last week I left it on the roof of my car, drove off, and ran over it. Forgetfulness has its rewards!

I went from an iPhone 11 Pro to an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Besides everything being faster and generally better all around, things in particular that I've noticed that matter to me:

  • I finally have a phone with 5G cellular support!
  • My WiFi speeds got a huge boost for some reason; not sure why, from the specs. Sitting in my normal desk spot, about 6 feet away from my main eero, I've seen speed test runs go past 900Mbps. With my 11 Pro, never saw it go past 600Mbps from the same spot. My eeros only have WiFi 6, not WiFi 6E, so it's not due to 6E. Speeds around the house, while of course a lot slower, are similarly boosted vs. the 11 Pro.
  • This screen sure is a lot nicer for reading books in the Kobo and Kindle apps. Physical Kobos and Kindles are naturally still a lot better, but I'm amazed at how pleasant the reading experience finally is on this pocketable device that I always have with me.
  • I love having magnetic charging. I don't have any actual MagSafe chargers at this point, but even with non-MagSafe magnetic chargers, it's just nice having something that securely locks into place, vs. my old Qi mats where it's too easy to knock the phone just barely out of position, stopping charging.
  • I like the AOD.
  • I like the Dynamic Island... although I sure haven't really seen it get leveraged much so far by the apps I run. Actually, I'm not sure I've seen any non-built-in apps use it on my phone yet.
  • The 15 Pro Max feels a lot better in the hand than my old 11 Pro. I think this is a combination of materials, size and shape, etc. I don't think it's any one single difference that does it. And besides being nicer to hold, I find it's also easier to hold.
  • Naturally, USB-C along with the much faster data transfer is very welcomed, for both connector and speed. But we all knew that already.
What is AOD? Thanks

Have had the opposite experience upgrading from a 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max in terms of battery life, temperature while using, and reception.

On 15 Pro Max, animations are smoother. Touch is more responsive and fluid. Photo and video are improved. Speakers are better. The weight and being slightly narrower in width and height improves the feel in the hand even with a case.

11 to 15PM 256 gb. The battery was getting bad on my iPhone 11, and I was running out of memory space because it’s only 128gb.

The screen quality is so much better, camera, extra zoom, battery. Everything is better than 4 years ago.

Next phone will just be a regular non-pro iPhone Plus though, but that’s not in other 3-4 years. I feel like they are the best bang for the buck value iPhone.

Upgraded (or downgraded if you look at it like that) from A 12PM to base model 15. I‘m loving the smaller and lighter form factor (especially at work in my scrubs). Also enjoying the snappier chip and vastly improved camera from the 12PM. Im so happy I stuck to my guns and didn’t go for a Pro or Pro Max…on a day to day basis do I really need ProMotion or a third camera, not really.
