For my reminders I set it to Brilliant, calendar to Resonate and all others to default.

It’s incredible how watchOS 11 allows us to change ringtones! It’s been ages since we could do that. Like, 9-10 years until we could do this.

I also have haptic feedback enabled, so I can feel when a notification comes in. That’s super helpful!

On the watch, nothing. Due to my hearing loss, I can't hear any sound through the watch speaker. I keep my watch on silent so I don't disturb people without knowing the watch is making sound.

On the iPhone I have a few custom ring tones I like to use. They're opening phrases from songs I like. My favorite is Coldplay's Viva La Vida.

Ever tried on the hearing aid feature on AirPods Pro 2? You take a hearing test upon setup and then it will let you use it to hear better.

I bought the AirPods Pro 2 specifically for the hearing aid feature. If you look through the threads about the hearing aid feature in AirPods and News sections, you'll see I frequently post in them.

No ringtone on phone or watch, haptics all the way.

the watch has ring tones?

kinda defeats the purpose, my watch spends 99.9% of its time on silent.

Never used a ringtone in 8 years of Apple Watch 😅
Hey everyone, have you ever turned off silent mode on your Apple Watches? Y’all never know about it until now. Well, I’m here to share some exciting news about the ability to change your ringtone on your Apple Watch.

You can do this from either your iPhone or your Apple Watch. This new feature, which was introduced with watchOS 11, has been a long-awaited request for many Apple Watch users since the first release of the device in 2015.

Unlike your iPhones, your Apple Watch offers a variety of ringtones that are not the same as those you’re used to. You can’t use Apple Music songs for alarms or ringtones on your Apple Watch, and you can’t use the default iOS ringtones either. So, the only ringtones you can swap out are the ones that watchOS provides.

Some people may not be aware of the other ringtones available, but here are the new ones you can choose from: eight different ringtone for calls and nine different sounds for notifications and other purposes.

Notifications 🔔/reminders/calendar events, etc.

Now, GPS Apple Watch wearers and non-cellular models can enjoy the Pebbles ringtone, which was previously exclusively played on cellular Apple Watches. This ringtone was also featured in the Apple Watch Series 3 reveal.

Got it I knew you would make use of that! Did you set it up by doing a hearing aid 🦻 test on your iPhone or uploading a picture of your audiogram? I may get one once these AirPods 2 don’t work anymore.

I did take the hearing test, and as I expected, it said my hearing loss is too severe to use Apple's hearing aid function. I then manually added made-up audiogram values that fell within the range where Apple will activate the hearing aid function. So the APP2 doesn't give me the full amplification a real hearing aid would give me, but the amplification I get is enough to make a significant difference to my listening experience.

PSA, don't do this unless you absolutely know what you are doing, I've had hearing loss my entire life and have worn hearing aids for decades. If you've never worn a hearing aid before, and Apple hearing test tells you your hearing loss is too severe for APP2, consult an audiologist.

Yea so since the test from :apple: wasn't good you had to fake an audiogram to use this feature? Did it still work for you?

I wouldn't say the test was not good -- it did accurately reflect my hearing loss. It's just that my hearing loss fell outside the range of what the APP2's hearing aid function is capable of.

And yes, even though the APP2 doesn't fully compensate for my hearing loss, the amplification it does provide do let me hear more than I can with just my ears alone. So in that sense, it does work.

Thanks for your perspective on this. So it is indeed useful- does it work with transparency, adaptive or ANC on?

Back to the topic, how many of y'all use LED Flash for Alerts on y'all's iPhones? Here is a trick for Silent Mode: tap and hold it in Control Center and you can schedule it to turn off like a Focus would. Give it a try.

Ummmm. So there's 2 things that can be amplified, right? Sounds being played by the iPhone, like music, video, phone calls. Then there's the sounds in your environment, like someone talking to you, TV, bicycle coming up behind you, etc.

So the first group, sound from the iPhone, get amplified no matter what the ANC/adaptive/transparency setting is. Sounds in your environment, you have to set it to adaptive or transparency. If you turn ANC on, that cuts off environmental sounds, as ANC is supposed to do. Environmental sounds sound different with adaptive and transparency modes -- I find myself switching between the two modes depending on what I'm trying to hear.

Ohhh so they still work together with noise control modes on AirPods Pro 2, right? Do you use conversational boost/awareness?

I found that turning on conversational awareness actually caused a delay in hearing someone talking to me. It does work nicely when listening to TV.

That’s interesting. Why would it only pick up voices being spoken on screen versus from people actually talking to you?

Was ANC and/or transparency on when you use this feature?

I think conversational awareness works by focusing on the voice when the system senses someone talking. So there's a delay between when someone starts talking and when the system kicks in. I think it works with TV because once a TV is on, sound is continually coming from the TV. People don't talk at such a constant rate, so every time there's a break in conversation, there is a delay while the system kicks in.

I can't really remember if ANC or transparency was on when I tried conversational awareness. Well, when listening to TV, it has to be in transparency mode, because ANC will cancel out the TV. I can't remember which mode it was in when I tried it with a friend, and I discovered the delay.

These details you used the hearing aid feature, right?

since you usually don’t like to turn silent mode off your Apple Watch and iPhone.

Btw does it drain iPhone battery even more?
Yes, I keep both iPhone and watch on silent mode all the time.

And no, the LED don't noticeably affect battery life, it just flashes once when a notification comes in.
