Ever tried on the hearing aid feature on AirPods Pro 2? You take a hearing test upon setup and then it will let you use it to hear better. On the watch, nothing. Due to my hearing loss, I can't hear any sound through the watch speaker. I keep my watch on silent so I don't disturb people without knowing the watch is making sound.
On the iPhone I have a few custom ring tones I like to use. They're opening phrases from songs I like. My favorite is Coldplay's Viva La Vida.
I bought the AirPods Pro 2 specifically for the hearing aid feature. No ringtone on phone or watch, haptics all the way.
the watch has ring tones?
kinda defeats the purpose, my watch spends 99.9% of its time on silent.
Hey everyone, have you ever turned off silent mode on your Apple Watches? Y’all never know about it until now. Well, I’m here to share some exciting news about the ability to change your ringtone on your Apple Watch.Never used a ringtone in 8 years of Apple Watch 😅
Got it I knew you would make use of that! Did you set it up by doing a hearing aid 🦻 test on your iPhone or uploading a picture of your audiogram? I may get one once these AirPods 2 don’t work anymore.I bought the AirPods Pro 2 specifically for the hearing aid feature. I did take the hearing test, and as I expected, it said my hearing loss is too severe to use Apple's hearing aid function. I then manually added made-up audiogram values that fell within the range where Apple will activate the hearing aid function. So the APP2 doesn't give me the full amplification a real hearing aid would give me, but the amplification I get is enough to make a significant difference to my listening experience.Got it I knew you would make use of that! PSA, don't do this unless you absolutely know what you are doing, I've had hearing loss my entire life and have worn hearing aids for decades. If you've never worn a hearing aid before, and Apple hearing test tells you your hearing loss is too severe for APP2, consult an audiologist.
I wouldn't say the test was not good -- it did accurately reflect my hearing loss. It's just that my hearing loss fell outside the range of what the APP2's hearing aid function is capable of.Yea so since the test fromwasn't good you had to fake an audiogram to use this feature? Did it still work for you?
Thanks for your perspective on this. So it is indeed useful- does it work with transparency, adaptive or ANC on?I wouldn't say the test was not good -- it did accurately reflect my hearing loss. And yes, even though the APP2 doesn't fully compensate for my hearing loss, the amplification it does provide do let me hear more than I can with just my ears alone. So in that sense, it does work.
Ummmm. So there's 2 things that can be amplified, right? Sounds being played by the iPhone, like music, video, phone calls. Then there's the sounds in your environment, like someone talking to you, TV, bicycle coming up behind you, etc. Thanks for your perspective on this. Ohhh so they still work together with noise control modes on AirPods Pro 2, right? Do you use conversational boost/awareness?Ummmm. So there's 2 things that can be amplified, right? So the first group, sound from the iPhone, get amplified no matter what the ANC/adaptive/transparency setting is. Sounds in your environment, you have to set it to adaptive or transparency. If you turn ANC on, that cuts off environmental sounds, as ANC is supposed to do. Environmental sounds sound different with adaptive and transparency modes -- I find myself switching between the two modes depending on what I'm trying to hear.
I found that turning on conversational awareness actually caused a delay in hearing someone talking to me. It does work nicely when listening to TV.Ohhh so they still work together with noise control modes on AirPods Pro 2, right? Do you use conversational boost/awareness?
That’s interesting. Why would it only pick up voices being spoken on screen versus from people actually talking to you?I found that turning on conversational awareness actually caused a delay in hearing someone talking to me. It does work nicely when listening to TV.
I think conversational awareness works by focusing on the voice when the system senses someone talking. So there's a delay between when someone starts talking and when the system kicks in. I think it works with TV because once a TV is on, sound is continually coming from the TV. People don't talk at such a constant rate, so every time there's a break in conversation, there is a delay while the system kicks in.That’s interesting. Was ANC and/or transparency on when you use this feature?

I can't really remember if ANC or transparency was on when I tried conversational awareness. Well, when listening to TV, it has to be in transparency mode, because ANC will cancel out the TV. I can't remember which mode it was in when I tried it with a friend, and I discovered the delay.
Yes. I turned on the hearing aid feature first thing after I got my APP2, and it's been on ever since. These details you used the hearing aid feature, right?
Do you use LED flash for alerts on iPhone?Yes. I turned on the hearing aid feature first thing after I got my APP2, and it's been on ever since.
Yes. Why do you want to know?Do you use LED flash for alerts on iPhone?
since you usually don’t like to turn silent mode off your Apple Watch and iPhone.Yes. Why do you want to know?
Yes, I keep both iPhone and watch on silent mode all the time.since you usually don’t like to turn silent mode off your Apple Watch and iPhone.
Btw does it drain iPhone battery even more?
