Just for reference, going Pro pays for itself in the long run, as it has a much longer life. I think only last year the Air got the same ram my Pro had 7 years ago.
Mine is now 7 years old and still performs fantastic (just wish I had got more storage...🤪).

True. We’ve got 512GB 2017 iPad Pros that still work great for light duty. The low RAM has gotten annoying for me personally but it’s still perfectly fine for my mom who got my hand me down.
The Air 5 is a good deal though if your storage sweet spot is either 64GB or 256GB. I reckon the M2 iPP will only be supported an extra year or so versus the M1 Air 5 and iPP.
2018 12.9", for drawing. I don't need much more than screen size, don't care about huge storage or anything like the speakers. But the screen is good, it is pretty light, no UI lag, and I wonder if going for the "pro" hardware actually makes a better difference in handling my drawing software (more power for handling more layers and smoother drawing)
The best 9.7-inch iPad ever, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which runs flawlessly barring worse battery on iOS 12 compared to iOS 9 (13-14 hours to around 10-11), and the 11-inch (technically 10.9-inch) iPad Air 5. I’m happy with both. I’d like the 9.7-inch iPad Pro to be on iOS 9 but it works decently enough on iOS 12. Could be worse. I really like the full-screen design of the Air 5.
Both work very well, so I’m happy with this setup.
