Theres no reason to get rid of Rosseta. If you don’t want it, don’t use it.
For as long as Rosetta exists, there are going to be a whole bunch of lazy developers who think their Intel-only app works on "Macs" and don't care about memory consumption, etc.

What plan do you have to force developers who have ignored Apple Silicon for almost two years to actually update their software?

For my use case its more important that I continue using a specific Intel app rather than update the OS. I have doubts the developer will update it as it’s a low volume, low profit app. I would hate to freeze updates to the OS, but would if I have to. I suspect many others are in the same position, more so than those that desire Rosetta be removed.

From someone who has run a software startup and participated in many "low volume, low profit" is a red flag for me. Even if it isn't an architecture change at some point something will break the app and the dev will just give up. Is there an open source alternative to what you are doing? That is generally a much safer play. If a developer give up there likely someone will take it over or, if it is really critical, even you can.

Does this developer offer a Windows version of this thing?

The only reason I haven’t bought the M1 yet is because I’m waiting to see if the M2 comes in midnight blue or black. So, I hope it comes in black. That’s all it’s missing for me.

HDMI 2.1 please. Yes I am a gamer (sometimes).

Also, better cooling to compensate for the warmer M2 chips, so that the new models run no warmer than the existing M1 versions.

On behalf of those who prefer dark case colors, it would be nice to have the finger print issue addressed if the new models include those darker color options; although I don't prefer those colors, the issue is embarrassing for an Apple product, IMO. I prefer silver and starlight, personally.

I don't mind the notch, wouldn't mind not having it either.

My current laptop is a 2012 MBA (fully functional in mint condition, with MagSafe and a card slot). I've been waiting to update it for a long time. I had intended to replace it with an 2017 MBA, but that was a failure. I traded the 2017 MBA back to Apple for a credit after replacing a faulty USB-C controller. Lesson learned: USB-C charging is fine for a casual iPad, but not for my primary computer. The credit still sits on my Apple account balance, waiting...waiting...

I almost bought an M1 MBP (with MagSafe and card slot!) but decided to wait for the video encoding benefits of the upcoming M2 chip. Another option for me is an M2 Mac Mini, especially if it includes support for HDMI 2.1.

I don't understand the hate for the notch. I have a 2021 MBP with the notch, a 2020 iMac and now a mid-2017 12" MacBook, and in my view, the sliiiiiim bezels + notch are way better than the giant bezels on either of the others. (And yes, this may seem odd, but I actually got the MBP with the notch first, followed by the others... and the huge huge huge bezels are shocking once you're used to the 2021 MBPs)
Notch agnostic here, but if you want to see how to make slim bezels + include a camera + not alienate a proportion of your potential buyers who will hate the notch, check out the Dell XPS 13 and 15 range. It can be done. I'm surprised that Apple, the multi-trillion dollar company which can presumably afford to employ the world's best product designers, chose to adopt a solution which is so potentially polarising on a design-language which likely will be here for 5-6 years.

For me the biggest limit of the M1 family is with connectivity. USB3.1 Get 2 and USB4 speeds not fully supported. Occasional dropouts over USB. Lots of buggy connection wired issues (although it is not clear to me if this is a third party driver or an Apple hardware/software issue, but it didn't seem like Intel Macs had as may of these these connectivity issues).

On the iPhone it makes sense as you can maximize screen real estate on a smaller device. On a laptop? Makes no sense to maximize something on such a large device already. Also, it stands out.
Frankly, the situations where I would notice it are very small. I generally use apps at full screen size and every one I've used automatically scales to where it places the display right below it. So it's essentially a non-issue.

As for the desktop, yeah it's there if I look for it. But what's the alternative? A thicker bezel that's there all of the time? That makes zero sense to me. Or a hole punch-out with a pill-space nearby? What do you really gain there? The space used isn't much different than what the notch is using. So that seems silly to me as well.
