Didn't think the 12.9 would be ahead at any point. :)
This is MacRumors. I expect skewed results not representative of the general population from an Apple enthusiast forum.

Voted for 9.7. I'm still waiting for an updated 12.9 model before purchasing. In the meantime, it's nice to see apps I use getting updates to support the larger display (e.g. comiXology 3.9.8 on 04/06/17). That's one of the advantages of not being an early adopter, ample time for software devs to keep up with changes in hardware. Hoping Marvel Unlimited and Hoopla follow suit by the time I purchase a new iPad. :)

Yes, I was about to mention this as well. I would expect to see a much higher proportion of people here investing in the biggest, most powerful iPad, compared to the general population where I think that the 12.9" is probably the least common size.

As a long timer here, I have to say the days of the Fan Boys appear to be over, at least on MacRumors. The 9.7 incher ought to win as it has been the standard size for quite some time and there is a certain familiarity with the size adding to the popularity. Just my opinion, wife and I own both sizes now and I have no real preference. Of course, I love my 11.5" MBA! So I suppose I am a fan of small.

I think people who have both the 12.9 and 7.9 will pick the 12.9 to show how cool they are. The poll should have the option to select multiple (It didn't I believe?).

Did from the start. I'm a regular.

I guess as mine went out of warranty on Monday I'm an earlyish adopter of the 12.9. Nice to see the updates. It just irks me that even Facebook just blows up the app. As in keyboard is the 9.7 version. Messenger uses the 12.9 keyboard so they could do it. Lately I have been hankering for the new iPad 2017 as a friend to my 12.9. Stop myself each time.

Feel free to throw in your reasons for multiple. ☺️

I've had the 12.9 for around two weeks now. It's fantastic!
I have had my 12.9 since Christmas of 2015 (it was a present) and I still love it. My kids gave me the the ASK as a bIrthday present the following January and the combo goes with me everywhere. At work I use it to listen to music, read personal emails, initiate and respond to texts, etc. At home I use it to read ebooks on Kindle, view Netflix, Amazon Prime and Acorn TV videos, surf the web and use split view, have two apps open at once for cut and paste. I also use it for remote support with LogMeIn. Since I have the original AT&T unlimited data plan I can use it almost anywhere in the USA. When I travel overseas, I usually get a local SIMM card for data and swap out the AT&T SIMM. Even though I come from the PC environment, my iPad serves me better than a laptop. In fact, the Toshiba Protege that our household has sits in the kitchen so we can view recipes.

9.7 pro is ony my 2017 techy purchase list.

If I could learn to ignore all the 'When is there going to be a new ipad' talk.

Haven't yet voted though I intend to return after purchase.

I have a 12.9 I use for lecturing and taking math notes, and a 7.9 I use for reading, GPS, and mobile consumption.

Is the 9.7 screen nice quality, I currently use Air for browsing Sky Q t.v. online banking etc.

IPad Air is an excellent screen for my home use.

I have two:

iPad Air. This is my main iPad and it almost never leaves the house. I use it for reading, gaming, browsing and to read and edit my writing projects (reading my own work is much nicer on the iPad than on my computer and it helps me see the stories more from a reader's perspective).

iPad mini 4. This is my 'on the go' iPad and it's mainly used as an ereader during my commute to and from work. I also have Kobo and Kindle ereaders but prefer the screen and speed of the iPad mini 4, plus being able to use it for all the other things an iPad can do.

I'd like to update from the iPad Air to the 12.9" Pro but am waiting to see if Apple:

a) updates the current 12.9
b) replaces the 12.9 with the upcoming 10.5" model
c) continues to leave the 12.9 as is once the 10.5" model comes out

Right now I see both a) or b) as being equally plausible.
